Hi everyone!
So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application??
What campus did you apply to?
Hi brendalwelch,
You are probably not checking these posts anymore, but just in case you do I wanted to ask you how you handled childcare, clinicals schedules, class schedules, etc... I am the exact same age as you with two small kids also (6 and 4) and have applied for summer 2013. The waiting to find out about admission is killing me, but I'm trying to pass the time by mentally prepping myself, assuming I get in. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!
Hi, I am extremely interested in the SMU-ABSN program either at San Mateo or Oakland for Spring 2014..I am still in the process of getting my B.S. degree at state and so far I have a 4.0 GPA..I received a 3.0 GPA in my sciences courses at city college..Can any of you guys give me some pointers of what to do in order to get in to the program or any feedback? I have done several volunteer work and internships at hospitals..I have not taken the tease test just yet bc I am horrible at math and I'm scared to score low (that is the only thing that I am scared of)..Also, do any of you guys recommend where to take the Pathophysiology and Pharmacology classes? I was looking at foothill college but the school requires you to take a prereqs courses prior to those classes and I just want to take those classes without the need of taking prereqts...I am a little skeptical on the online classes just bc I have never done online classes..do any of you guys recommend it???
Thanks in advance..Congratulations on everyone who got in..and to those who already finished with the program pls let me know about the experience!!
Hello all..
I know that this is an old thread, but I wanted to ask where people that live in the SF East Bay area volunteered. I will be applying for the ABSN program at Samuel Merritt(2014) start and also to UCSF Direct Entry Masters Program. I so not have any "work" experience in this field, but my prior degree is in Psychology with a child Development focus. I have completed all of my pre-nursing reqs with a 3.85 GPA, and am especially interested in Pediatrics, NICU, Oncology, and potentially being an FNP.
I have put volunteer apps in at La Clinica, Highland, Planned Parenthood; and I almost have the health clearance stuff together to apply to Children's Hospital Oakland(the one that I would most like to be at). I live in Moraga, and ideally would like to get placed somewhere on my side of the tunnel so that I could spend more time volunteering and less commuting (I have several little ones and limited time). So I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for other places; in Oakland, berkeley, or my side of the tunnel.
Thanks!

Did you follow up and find out why they rejected your application for Summer 2012? I know you got in for Fall Semester, I saw your posts.
