Hi everyone!
So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application??
What campus did you apply to?
I'm definitely struggling to find a place that will be around $600 or less. I'm trying to save as much as possible because the program itself is already so expensive. I currently have one other person who wants to live with me (she's a non-nursing student that goes to school and works in downtown SF). We're trying to find a place between SF and San Mateo right now. However, if it is for certain that the April cohort will be taught in SF, we will find a place in the city.
If anyone wants to live with us, please let me know. Maybe rent will be cheaper if we have more people. I'm still keeping the option of living on my own in San Mateo open but if it is too expensive then I cannot do it.
Ahh, didn't get the "You're not number 6" email! Oh well, at least I know that I am because I come here I agree with what some other people told me about the April-SF cohort; I was talking with my dad about the logistics of accepting people. There's some stat that counts to some people about how many people accept an offer to attend, so there's some sense to admitting people they don't think will be able to pay...? Or something. Uh. Well, accepting more people is probably a plus. Also, yeah, they probably started low on the Oakland waitlist because they know the people high on the list will probably get in.
Sucks about SM-June though! You have to wait so long...
It was totally heartening to hear about #5 on the waitlist being offered a spot on 3/1. I'mma gonna be checking my email every five minutes for the next...six weeks.
Also, I'm way on board with as many people going to SMU as want to, and you people all heckuv deserve to go. But if something happens and me and katie don't make it...that's going to be a problem! No, whatever, we'll start in November oh well
Everyone in the wait list-I know the wait sucks but you guys have really good chances on getting in. I was on the wait list last cohort as #33 and got in the week before but didn't accept it since it was too last minute but got in this time around. Also, there is a good chance that people who got in will not accept because of financing. I'm still waiting to hear whether I can get loans, etc. the financial aid people are supposed to mail my packet that shows how much I will get from FAFSA, how much loans im supposed to apply for and then I can apply for loans. So there may be a chance I along with many will have to pass up the opportunity if we don't get approved for loans. If you don't get in this time around but you're in the wait list, you will get in next time!
