So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application?? :up: :down: What campus did you apply to?

Emsaway-I haven't heard anything but did receive access to student Website this morning...haven't really taken time to navigate it tho

After considering the costs of tuition and living, I can see why many people would decide not to pursue this program after being accepted. Although I knew about the costs when I applied, it's a huge reality check to be calculating the interests that will accrue if a private loan is needed.

I don't know about you guys but I do not have 70k+ lying around (tuition + cost of living). How are you guys planning to pay for tuition and cost of living? Loans? If so, do the interest rates from private loans scare you? The interest doesn't start accumulating after you graduate, it starts right when you take out the loan.. so for the one year that we will be in the program, interest will have already been accumulated when we graduate =/ ..

I'm stressing like crazy over this and hearing your plans would definitely help me with deciding what I should do.

I'm going to beg family to co-sign. So far I got my sister for $25,000. Now I just need $50,000 more.

@tamosaur - Just breathe. Private loans are overwhelming but think of it from a different angle. This is an investment on yourself. Just like financing a car or a house. I'm doing it with 100% loans too. But do what you gotta do to get the loans and don't dwell on it. Focus on the task at hand, be competitive and do well in your BSN, pass the NCLEX, secure an RN position ASAP. Then you can pay off your loans ASAP.

I'm with you!!! I know that us San Mateo people think that we'll probably get word by Thursday or Friday, but hopefully it's more like Monday or Tuesday! We'll see...

I hope so too! My letter of intent for the ELMSN-CM is due this Friday and I would like to hear back from the ABSN prior to making a final decision. I hope it's Monday or Tuesday. **cross fingers**

just for some of u who are concerned with housing...there is a student website smu will give u access to with a message board...people there are looking for living situations...so that might help some of u.

Live Laugh you should contact the counselor from both programs and explain to them the situation...im sure theyll be accomodating...if not...at worse it will cost you $350 deposit...

Thanks, pnlu007!!! I just sent in my deposit and letter of intent so they have not given me anything at all yet =(. I'm hoping I receive everything soon so I could start seeing how I should pay for the program and all the other madness that needs to be done.

It sucks that the San Mateo - June people are waiting so long!!! I wonder if everyone in the office is taking their sweet time or if they're actually working really hard to get things in order for everybody.
