So, who applied?

So, if they had a waitlist going already, why would they accept more applications? And do you know if they only call people who've been accepted and to those who've been waitlisted/rejected receive letters via snail mail?

Melody714: That is the mystery to me??? I have no idea why they pushed back the prereqs or why they are allowing more people to apply?? But I have a feeling they are having a hard time filling all the spots (weird to me, considering this is an amazing program)

Hi everyone! I got into the Oakland cohort but decided to not go due to personal reasons. I would love to go and I have worked for 3 years on the prereqs. SM is very expensive and having 2 small kids at home will be difficult. I will try again for next year. Hopefully the job situation will be better. Good luck to everyone!

MalRey729:

Thanks for your input. So, were you notified via email in regards to being waitlisted?

@Melody714--emails were sent to both accepted students and those on the waitlist and phone calls shortly followed after you received the acceptance email. Check your spam mail if you didn't receive anything.

ateacher2nurse, thanks for the info!

Melody: I got that email too. I think that when the email went out it meant that they might have had enough people to fill the spots or just need a few more here or there, but they over aceept in anticipation that people don't accept. They have a lot of slots to fill and I think they got just about 3X the number of applications. For every spot there were probably 3-4 applications which is a pretty good ratio. I've talked to alot of schools that say it depends on the year, but they've had some where a majority of the enrolled students come from the waiting lists. I think they're having a harder time filling the San Mateo slots due to the fact that you can only pic one school to send your application to and as someone else posted the cohort you apply to might not necessarily get your application. I had stuff go to Sacramento when I sent it to Oakland and San Francisco. So i think the point of A. Seed's email was to get more applications in front of the cohorts that needed more spots filled.

ateacher: I am sorry that it didn't work out for you this year, as a mom of a little one also I know how difficult it is to make sure that the best possible decision is being made for your family! Just know that you were accepted into a really difficult program that most never get the chance to even consider an option, so congrats on that accomplishment!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I was accepted into the Samuel Merritt ELMSN-FNP program last week and so someone from the wait list will be moving up! I was accepted to the Oakland ABSN cohort.

Does anyone know what the current wait list situation is for San Mateo? I tried calling the San Mateo Cohort, but they were unable to tell me whether or not they have or have not filled all of the spots for their Summer ASBN program. I want to change my priority choice but I don't want to give up my current waitlisted spot just to be put on a longer wait list.... the stress of waiting and my lack of patients is no good!

Has anyone received their Award letter yet from Financial Aid? The award letter tells us what we will be receiving from the Stafford Loan so that we can make arrangements with other lenders for the remaining balance for the Cost of Attendance. Early last week ------ in Financial Aid told me via email she hoped to get the information out by the end of the week; but I have not yet received any information from her. Has anyone else heard any updates about when we will be receiving this information?

I spoke to her last week and she said this week we should be getting our financial aid information.
