  1. Hey all San Mateo students!!! Does anyone plan on going to the Welcome Event on April 6th? I need advice! My husband and I booked a trip way back to take our little one to Disneyland that week ( we are leaving this Sunday) Do I scramble to try and change the hotel days to make it to the event or do I leave it as is? I would hate to miss out on a opportunity to get to know you all better and to see our campus but I found out so late in the game, and there still is orientation!? Any advice?
  2. I just saw the ATI testing on the tuition page, KILL me if we have to take that test again!!
  3. @ OakRN: Thank you for helping!! Should I try and apply for this medcap loan before I go in to talk to a finacial aid counslor or get my financial information? I Just sent my deposit in today, how long after should I recieve that info?? Oh and I think ATI is referring to the TEAS test. THANKS again!!
  4. Thanks everyone for all the congrats! I am soo excited!!! In regards to the private loans, I looked into the Wells Fargo Medcap and so far it looks to be the best for me but I have a few questions for those who have chosen to go this direction: 1. My husband and I have strong credit histories but according to the information I looked up they also require a steady income. My husband has a full time job at Apria Healthcare, do you think his job alone would allow us to take the loan out on our own? or should we try to find a cosigner?? Thanks!!!
  5. IM IN!!!!!! IM IN!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!!! Just got the call for San Mateo!!!!! I am sooooooo excited!!!! Thank you for all your support!!!!!
  6. Thank you to everyone who posted such great info and insight into the program!! I have a question about orientation for the first 5 weeks? During this time is it possible to be called off the wait list? I would feel awful waiting until the last possible second only to find out that I didn't get in and miss my other windows of opportunity. I feel much more confident in my situation after hearing the stories about people getting called off the waitlist, but it still makes for one very difficult situation!
  7. @Ashlee: I am trying so hard to be patient. I am currently trying to figure out what my best option would be, obviously SM is my number one choice but I am married and have a 19mth old daughter and just want to make sure I am making the right choice... I have a back up plan with an LVN school (but this is not my first choice at all seeing that its not RN and is a certificate only) I guess my question for you would be, if your friend found out she was accepted right before orientation, when should I put an absolute deadline on getting in to SM? The LVN program starts May 1st? Oh the choices!!!!
  8. @ashlee: the last time I checked with --- I was 12 on the waitlist and this was about two weeks ago? I am just dying to find out!!! Its hard to get answers as to what the outcome may be?? I am just hoping it comes sooner than later!!!
  9. @ashlee: If I am accepted into the San Mateo Cohort I too will be commuting about 2hours and its nice to see that its possible! I am waiting to hear from --- about what my current status is on the wait list and if changing my priority to San Mateo will increase the likelyhood of getting in!!! The waiting game is killer. But hopefully I'll hear some sort of news soon. Thanks for your insight!
  10. yea... I just got an automated email that --- will be out of the office till the 22nd.... so I don't anticipate hearing any new news until then... the wait continues! Goodluck with Oakland though Blue22!
  11. Blue22: Do you know where you are on the wait list for Oakland??? I was told about a week ago that I was like 12 ( I'm hoping this has gotten better) but I had also heard that the San Mateo Cohort may or may not be full. At this point ( if you cannot already hear the desperation in my writing) I would take any of the three cohorts!!!!
  12. I get the feeling that SM doesn't rush things... I am still without any notice of whether or not I can change my priority campus or where I am at on the wait list.... I guess this will be one of those moments that comes down to the wire.... if anyone who is also waiting patiently on the wait list has any news or knows anything about the San Mateo campus ( whether or not the cohort has been filled or if there is a waitlist) please let me know. I would really appreciate some comforting news... either way good or bad the wait is excruciating!! Thank you!!!
  13. Does anyone know what the current wait list situation is for San Mateo? I tried calling the San Mateo Cohort, but they were unable to tell me whether or not they have or have not filled all of the spots for their Summer ASBN program. I want to change my priority choice but I don't want to give up my current waitlisted spot just to be put on a longer wait list.... the stress of waiting and my lack of patients is no good!
  14. ateacher: I am sorry that it didn't work out for you this year, as a mom of a little one also I know how difficult it is to make sure that the best possible decision is being made for your family! Just know that you were accepted into a really difficult program that most never get the chance to even consider an option, so congrats on that accomplishment!
  15. Melody714: That is the mystery to me??? I have no idea why they pushed back the prereqs or why they are allowing more people to apply?? But I have a feeling they are having a hard time filling all the spots (weird to me, considering this is an amazing program)
