So, who applied?
Ok so I just spoke with someone from SM and my position on the wait list has moved 9 spots, so instead of being number 21 I am know 12! I know that this is still far from being accepted, however, as everyone has already stated, SM is a really difficult school to get into and this being my second try getting in I am really honored just to be this close. With that said I would LOVE to get into any of the three cohorts. I have a plan B option waiting in the wings for LVN school, but obviously SM is my first choice for obvious reasons. Now I just need to wait and pray hard for some answers (the sooner the better!)
ilnurse15: My first choice school was Oakland, the person I spoke to told me that the wait list I was on worked like this, whichever comes first my first choice opens or a spot at one of the other cohorts they will call off the wait list. I am thinking that this means you have the option to either accept the spot at any of the schools that opens or wait and hope your first choice opens up? I live about an hour away from San Mateo so it wouldn't be too terribly bad, I cant relocate because I am married and have a 18mth old, but to be honest I would take it in a heart beat if it was offered! It has been a long haul and wait to finally get into nursing school for me, but then again I think its that way for most nursing school students!
Hi there - I just applied a couple weeks ago to the Oakland and San Mateo summer cohorts in response to an email from Anne Seed that applications were being accepted for the ABSN summer cohorts. I also applied to the SF fall cohort. Does anyone know anything about that? I'm wondering if there's a wait-list for Oakland, why would they broadcast that they've extended the pre-req deadlines and are still accepting applications? I'm confused.
I received an email last week that my file went to faculty last week and that the response would take about a 2 week turn around. I'd love to be accepted to the Oakland cohort (since I live in Oakland and volunteer in the county hospital) and would gladly attend the San Mateo summer cohort or SF fall cohort - but I'm wondering what is actually going on.
Congratulations to all who got accepted!
All the Best,
Mom of 2 (2 and 4)
P.S. mamas of child(ren) - you're truly an inspiration to me! and way to go non-moms, too!
I didn't call Oakland but I have been in contact with Che, who I sent an email asking if my position on the wait list has changed. According to the original email the wait list was not only for our first choice (Oakland) but if a position at one of the other two came up first. I may be holding onto a tiny chance, but I am anxious to find out either way.

CONGRATULATIONS TARAMTOMS!
you better add yourself to that san mateo fb page
& just to add to what everyone's saying about the money issue. like someone said- it is a private school. they are competitive and have a high reputation. and i don't know if anyone's visited the school and seen what it's have to offer - they have amazing resources that the state colleges and especially many community colleges don't have (or have as high quality). a lot of my friends who graduated from those schools that have seen samuel merritt recently said they would've felt so much more prepared if they had studied at samuel merritt. they have one of the most up to date simulation labs. (even though we don't tk anatomy) -- their anatomy cadaver lab is the most awesome thing i've ever seen lol. and that's all i can think of right now
but really tho- their simulation lab is crazy. oh yah - and this only applies to oakland campus ive never visited the other ones sorry. but okay good luck again!
