Hi everyone!
I wanted to start a thread for students who are applying for Samuel Merritt's ABSN program for the Spring 2022 cohort since it's due on July 1st. Feel free to ask questions and/or post your admission stats if you'd like. I went to a couple info sessions, so maybe I can answer some of your questions. To anyone who is currently in the ABSN program or have completed it, I would love to hear your experience and thoughts about it since I have heard mixed reviews.
Here are my current stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.90 (Though I am still completing some pre-reqs this Summer/fall)
Science GPA: 4.00 (Taking pathophysiology this fall)
TEAS: I took it twice and luckily SMU will take the best scores from each individual section between the two. However, I don't know how they would calculate that since TEAS scores are equated based on difficulty. If I were to calculate my score based on my best results it would be 89%
Letters of recommendations: One from a Human A&P professor I had, who I also TA'd for after completing the class, one from a nurse, and an optional one from my boss at my current job (part-time food service employee).
Volunteer experience at an Emergency Department, TA'd for a Human A&P class for Sac State's ATS program (I don't know how relevant this would be since it wasn't a college course. ATS classes are meant for middle school/high school students who wish to enrich their knowledge in subjects of their choice).
Good luck on your applications everyone! You got this!
Hi! Just got my acceptance email yesterday as well :) for the Sac Spring 2022 cohort. I am so excited. I also got into Cal State San Marcos, but I live in Loomis so I am really happy I don't have to move.
My stats:
4.0 science GPA
3.7 overall GPA
2 classes in progress (interpersonal communication and pathophysiology)
84.7% on the TEAS- 100% Math, 91.5% Reading, 87.5% English and Language Usage, and a whopping 66% on the science portion.
So it's possible with a less than desirable TEAS! I didn't even retake it. I had strong personal statement answers, strong recommendation letters (1 from my microbio teacher, 1 from my emt professor, and 1 from my boss at work), and strong grades to counteract it.
I have a BS in Business Administration, I am a licensed EMT (have not worked as one), and no health care experience except for what I did for my EMT license.

CONGRATS!!
Hey @JEasley, I live in South Sac (Pocket/Greenhaven) so we should connect on possible carpooling!
@LovingNursing I'm so sorry you didn't get in. Definitely re-apply for next time!
Here are my updated stats:
Last 60 units GPA: 3.63
Pre-req GPA: 3.8 (patho & pharm in process)
Science GPA: 4.0
HESI: 91.6% overall (English 93.3%, Math 94%, Science 84%)
I have a CNA cert. but no healthcare experience beyond volunteering at COVID vaccine clinics. I had strong LORs and I think I had a pretty strong personal statement on the app.
@lew97 congrats on making the waitlist! What # are you?
Does anyone want to start a private FB group? I don't think I can send DMs here on allnurses because my account isn't old enough.

Hi everyone, I just opened a facebook group called “ABSN Samuel Merritt University Spring 2022” for accepted students. This way will be easier to communicate to each other, you’re welcome to join us.

Hi Everyone! I got in too!!
I didn't get in the first time around and am so relieved that I did this time. I am at the Sacramento campus. I just moved to Orangevale.
Does anyone else not have anything in the Checklist tab for admitted students portal? I have access to everything else, but not that...
