Samuel Merritt ABSN - Spring 2019

Published

Hello!

I'm new to this site, but have been following the allnurses posts regarding Samuel Merritt program applications religiously for a while now. I recently applied to the ABSN and ELMSN - FNP program for the July 1 deadline. Thought it would be great to have a place to provide insight, stay updated and share experiences with all of you through this terrifying journey. I mean we ONLYYY have to wait until October - November to hear anything. Let the wait begin.....

Looking forward to hearing from you all :)

Kind of! I still have my spot in San Mateo as of now, but was placed #2 on the Sac waitlist as well since they made a mistake with my application. Very weird/unique situation. But it sounds like we will more than likely be attending in Sac together in January! :)

I have to put down my deposit for San Mateo by Friday but was reassured that it will transfer over to Sac if I haven't heard back about the status of the waitlist by then.

So are they expecting the waitlist to move before Friday and that's why you will hear back about the status of the waitlist by then? Also yay for us hopefully both attending sac in January!

Well I think multiple people have already given up their spots, it's just a matter of Katharine looking over everything and updating the status of the waitlist and notifying those of us who may have a seat now. Katharine said she would try to send an update by Friday but that she can't guarantee it

I knew at least one person had but I hadn't been notified that I got moved into the accepted bunch so I wasn't sure how long that would take. Hopefully we both hear back soon so that we can start getting everything in order and your deposit doesn't have to be transferred over.

What a crazy system glitch but I'm happy you were able to get it mostly resolved! I can't wait to meet you!

Yeah I'm not sure why moving people into open spots/updating the waitlist has to be done manually like that, it doesn't really make sense in my opinion. But I agree, hopefully we both hear back ASAP-- I will check in with Katharine if I haven't heard anything by Thursday.

Thank you and I can't wait to meet you either!! :)

Hi,

Which campus? Did you move since lastmonth?

What was ur waitlist # in San Mateo for Fall 2018?

I hope I join Nov.

I got moved off the waitlist for Sacramento this morning so the waitlist is officially moving!

Same here! So excited :)

What were both your waitlist positions?

I was number 1 and Boogalooga was number 2

Hii,

Hope the process hasn't been too brutal on everyone. I for one, have been checking my email religiously. Haha. Anyone heard back from San Mateo's waitlist yet?

Hi, I was just checking out this forum with the same question! I am #2 on the waitlist at San Mateo and no, haven't heard anything yet. I hear you on the checking e-mail religiously... I've been clicking refresh like every 5 mins during the week. UGH.

Also, I declined my spot at Sacramento ELMSN-FNP if anyone is waitlisted for that one? I decided I'd rather have more clinical experience before I go the FNP route.

People who are already accepted to ABSN: Are you getting financial aid? If so, how constrained is the federal financial aid? Did you have to get mostly private loans?

I'm not super impressed the organization here... I feel like I'm in the dark and they take DAYS to respond to e-mails. Anyone else feeling this way? Another MSN program that I was accepted to in Chicago had estimated financial aid packets already made up for us at the interview. While I'd rather stay in California, I'm starting to wonder if the whole program is going to feel this disorganized.
