Samuel Merritt ABSN - Spring 2019

Published

Hello!

I'm new to this site, but have been following the allnurses posts regarding Samuel Merritt program applications religiously for a while now. I recently applied to the ABSN and ELMSN - FNP program for the July 1 deadline. Thought it would be great to have a place to provide insight, stay updated and share experiences with all of you through this terrifying journey. I mean we ONLYYY have to wait until October - November to hear anything. Let the wait begin.....

Looking forward to hearing from you all :)

hobokitty I wouldn't give up hope, a couple of weeks ago they called me about coming to orientation for the November start. I had been #16 on the waitlist. I'm sure there will be a lot of movement in the next couple of weeks! You are in a great spot.

Do you guys know if they mostly just care for your prerequisites? Because I did really poorly in my biology classes at UCD (I got C's), but I have good grades for the prereqs

I did poorly in classes at Sac State, I got a few C's and I was able to get in. Really make yourself stand out with your essays and get a professor to write you a A letter of recommendation. That's a huge help if you did poorly in classes previously.

Yes, I asked my physiology and anatomy professors to help me write a letter of recommendation! Any advice on how to make myself stand out on the essay?

For the resume that you upload on there, is it also important for it to be less than 2 pages?

Just speak from your heart, show your ability to be compassionate but strong. Definitely have it proof read too. My resume was a little over a page.

Hello! I'm new to this site too! I'm currently waitlisted at #6 for the Sacramento campus, for the ABSN program. Ugh... Anyone know what the chances of getting in at this point? Also, by chance does anyone know if being waitlisted for a Spring start of 2019 helps acceptance into the Fall start of 2019 at the Sac campus? The sac campus is my only option. And congrats to all those already accepted!! :)

Hello RoscN,

I am currently # 7 on the waitlist at Sac. I have not heard anything in last couple weeks. From my understanding it changes from different programs at different times how many are accepted from the waitlist.

I'm not sure if in the past people were added up until a couple weeks before it starts or not. Does anyone know of people being brought up right before the start of the semester?

Good luck to You! I am right behind you so hopefully we get to meet!!

Hi JRS32,

We are in the same boat! Lots of luck to you too! The waiting and wondering is tough. Hopefully we both get in and hope we do get to meet!

Did anyone of you have an experience about accidentally singing up for the same version of the HESI using same SMU department ID. I committed this mistake and now I am freaking out that it might affect my application with not a lot of time left to cancel and sing up for the right version and take HESI before the deadline. Any advice or thoughts will be helpful.

Did anyone else on the waitlist receive an orientation invite? Specifically for the San Mateo campus. I was emailed that I'm invited and while I can't be sure that I'll get a spot in the January 2019 cohort, they mentioned I'd have a guaranteed spot in April at the San Mateo campus. I tried to confirm this but his out of office email is on again. Anyone else have experience with a similar email? I don't want to get my hopes up over nothing! Thanks in advance!

Congrats Jess! I'm on the San Mateo waitlist in the 20's :(, and did not get an email. I already put in an application for the 2 summer cohorts as well. It would be nice to be guaranteed a spot! If you don't mind, what number were you on the waitlist?

Congratulations Jess! I'm #5 on the waitlist for Sacramento and I haven't received an orientation invite yet. :( Still waiting and waiting with anticipation. Hoping and hoping!! :)

What number are you on the waitlist?
