Samuel Merritt ABSN - Spring 2019

Published

Hello!

I'm new to this site, but have been following the allnurses posts regarding Samuel Merritt program applications religiously for a while now. I recently applied to the ABSN and ELMSN - FNP program for the July 1 deadline. Thought it would be great to have a place to provide insight, stay updated and share experiences with all of you through this terrifying journey. I mean we ONLYYY have to wait until October - November to hear anything. Let the wait begin.....

Looking forward to hearing from you all :)

I have just submitted my app for summer 2019!! Now to play the waiting game. Fingers crossed that an acceptance letter will come my way!

Ksampat, if all your highest scores are from the first test, I'd only load that. They said to load both results during the info session, but I'm guessing that is with the assumption you did better for them to take the higher scores between the two.

Goodluck Wanida! I applied to the summer cohort as well, hope we both get that letter!!!

Good luck to you too! Which campus are you applying to? I'm applying to the San Mateo campus!

I applied again to both the San Mateo and Oakland campuses. :)

Good luck wanida and bebimbop! I applied again for Summer to San Mateo and Oakland. Crossing my fingers that we all get in this time!

Yes!! Hopefully we all get in and become classmates in the summer! :)

I got a similar email to Jesswalsh, so I guess I'm in for April cohort or possibly Jan as well? Anyone else on the waitlist get an invite for the orientation tomorrow?

Hello,

you said that santa barbara city college has an A&P review class?

Hello Samuel Merritt ABSN students! For those of you who are in the program right now, could you tell me what it's like? I would like to apply but I'm afraid it's going to be too intense with two young kids. I'm torn between- "it's only a year! I can figure it out!" and "what if I don't see my kids for a whole year??". TIA for your insights!

Hey! I am currently in the program. Honestly, time management is the most crucial part. Some moms are having a hard time, feelings of guilt, but schedule kid time. There is a mom here that said she will comment with her opinion. I think it’s so worth it. Getting it done in a whole year, I plan to have kids soon so I wanted to get it done quickly. I think the program is great. We do get two breaks that are a few weeks long too. I rarely feel overwhelmed, but I write my schedule out in advance.

Current schedule:

Monday/Tuesday clinical 6:45-6:45

Wednesday and Thursday class 9-3:50

every other Friday we have SIM lab 11-1

Thank you, that's so helpful! It sounds like it's busy, but my kids won't forget who I am. How hard are the classes compared to the science prerequisites? How much studying would you say you have to do outside of class?
