Hey guys! I'm new to this forum but has anyone applied for Spring 2018 Cohort yet? I'm not sure if the applications are open yet but that is the cohort that I want to apply to. I will have my BA in Sociology in December 2017 and I am still doing my prerequisites. If you've already applied or are a current student, let me know if you think I'll have a chance at getting in.
Degree: BA in Sociology
Last 60 unit GPA: 3.4 (hoping to raise it to 3.6 by end of year)
Science GPA: 3.5 (still need to do Microbiology & Physiology)
Non-Science: 3.1 (Completed all)
CNA License: Yes
Paid Job Experience: Yes for 1.5 years
*Haven't taken HESi exam yet, but I will this month
Please help, what were your GPA's when you got in and when did you find out you were accepted? Also, if you were ever on the waitlist, when did you finally get accepted?
Hi Nurseaid2RN, sorry to hear that you didn't get in. Don't give up hope. There are many programs in the bay area, don't give up, try again and apply to more places. Maybe talk to the counselors and see what you need to work on for the next application cycle.
The counselors are really helpful!
Also, did you get the email last night?
Hey guys - I found out around 8am this morning that I got into the San Mateo cohort. I've already decided to go elsewhere though, so that will open up a spot from the waitlist! I'm happy to know it will go to someone who really wants to go. Good luck to all of you.
I don't think this will be particularly helpful, but I had a 4.0 prereq GPA, 3.8 in my undergrad, and 98% on the HESI.
I got waitlisted for San Mateo fall 2017 cohort a few months ago as number 9.0 and didn't get accepted, however shortly after that I was denied I got an offer to be admitted for Spring 2018! So if you're waitlist high up don't be discouraged, there's a chance that if you aren't accepted for Spring they will offer you a spot in the next cohort!

Wait, how did that work? Did you have to reapply?
I did not get accepted. I really thought I was going to get in. I did well on the HESI and all my prerequisites, I thought I had great essays, job experience and letters of rec...and I have been working as a licensed midwife for the past 5 years (I have helped deliver 400 babies!! I have also drawn blood and started IVs hundreds of times, sutured lady partsl tears, provided pap smears, etc.) Anyways, I have a lot of skills already and my friends who did the ABSN program were all sure I'd get in. I didn't even make the waitlist. I'm pretty devastated. I will apply for the Summer cohort but it's hard to know what to do differently to make my application even better. Any suggestions?
I'm sorry to all who didn't get in. I really know how you feel.
And Congratulations to all who got the happy news of acceptance to SMU

Hi, Thank you for the input!! Did you reapply for the next cohort via Nursingcas or was the seat offered to you?

I did not get into this cohort. I'm so bummed out
I felt like everything was going my way until now. I want to be a nurse so badly. I put all my eggs in one basket completing all my pre-req for SMU..I'm going to be applying for the next one but now I feel like at age 43 I can't waste any more time..should I go for LVN and then brige to RN. Any advise? Any other programs in Bay Area that accepts the same pre-reqs as SMU? For those of you who got in/waitlist...please share your factors that were evaluated.
