Hey guys! I'm new to this forum but has anyone applied for Spring 2018 Cohort yet? I'm not sure if the applications are open yet but that is the cohort that I want to apply to. I will have my BA in Sociology in December 2017 and I am still doing my prerequisites. If you've already applied or are a current student, let me know if you think I'll have a chance at getting in.
Degree: BA in Sociology
Last 60 unit GPA: 3.4 (hoping to raise it to 3.6 by end of year)
Science GPA: 3.5 (still need to do Microbiology & Physiology)
Non-Science: 3.1 (Completed all)
CNA License: Yes
Paid Job Experience: Yes for 1.5 years
*Haven't taken HESi exam yet, but I will this month
Please help, what were your GPA's when you got in and when did you find out you were accepted? Also, if you were ever on the waitlist, when did you finally get accepted?

I got in off the waitlist very quickly (one week later?), with Science GPA 4.0, 92 on the TEAS, and volunteer healthcare experience. My overall undergrad GPA was not spectacular (maybe similar to yours), but I had all A's in the pre-reqs, except one, I think. Ultimately I did not go there, as the price tag is prohibitive.
That's amazing! But it makes me very nervous, I slacked with my non-science classes and only got a 3.1 GPA I'm trying to make sure my science is 3.5-3.7 GPA by the time I finish. So it seems like they put you on the waitlist first before they accept you. I'm going to take the HESI exam soon, was it hard? My grades aren't as good as yours so it's starting to make me feel like I don't have a chance ..

Hello! I plan on applying in a couple weeks for the January 2018 start at Sam Merritt. I finished everything but unfortunately I had to withdraw from my pathophys class (I was out of town when it began, tried to catch up when I got back and was already a week and a half behind in a 5 week course so it was already too late to drop!) I will probably have to retake pharm because I think I'll have a C+. I know a C is fine but I don't want that :/. I was wondering if any of you know if it is okay to have 2 classes in progress? And if it will look awful that I had to withdraw from one of them and am retaking the other. I have a 3.5-3.6 pre rec GPA, overall 3.1, 95% on my HESI exams, volunteer experience at Stanford hospital, and medical assisting in a cardiology setting. If anyone has words of advice for applying to SMU ABSN that would be amazing. I've only applied to USF ELMSN.
I unfortunately have to take Patho and Physio in the Fall together. I'm sure it's okay to have two classes pending - I know most schools want A&P complete by the time of applying. Also, may I ask how you got a 95% on the HESI? Like what book did you use to study the science section? I got a 73% overall and a 58% on my Sciences
Hi Jenna!! I got the elsevier hesi A2 exam study guide and it saved me! It was SO helpful I can't explain. I highly recommend it. I worked the book through front to back for about a month before the exam. I have my A&P done which is great. Just stressing out about this patho W and pharm C... Ugh I'll retake the pharm for sure.

I think you have a good shot at getting accepted! I got in for fall 2017. I submitted my application May 1, and I was accepted May 25. My last 60 unit GPA and science prereq GPA were both around 3.6, and I'm a CNA as well, so pretty similar to your stats. Just make sure your HESI score is good! I got a 94%. I used the elsevier hesi A2 too, and I went over all of my A&P notes from classes. The study guide doesn't go that in depth in A&P in my opinion, but it's a great study tool for the rest of the subjects.

Hi all. I submitted my application for Spring 2018 last month. I received an email last week notifying me that my application passed the preliminary review. However, I received a second email today stating my application was received and would be reviewed shortly. Very strange... did anyone else receive similar email messages?
