Hi everyone! Just wanted to get the conversation started for those who will be applying for the ABSN Fall 2020 cohort. I will be applying for the Sacramento location by the April 1 deadline. Is anyone finishing up their requirements now to do so as well? I'd love to connect with you!
Idaudist, it makes me a little uneasy as well. However, I have talked to my friend who is currently in the program (she started in January), she has said that the administration is a little unorganized and she found that surprising since it is such a "prestigious" school. But she said the benefit has been that SMU is really well known for producing good nurses at all the hospitals that clinicals are at. So at least there is a pay off to endure the disorganization. But again, thats just one current student's perspective. I'm sure there are different perspectives and opinions ?

How about the job retention rate? I am not able to move.
And also I am worried about the price tag. My current job gives me decent money, not sure if I want to start over. But I always wanted to be a RN D:. So I would be losing out on one year of income and 90k!

Yeah that’s been one of hesitancy too. It is expensive. Something I asked my friend who is currently in the program is if she feels mine she will be able to get hired quickly... & she said yes. They have some type of program that also helps students with job placement after graduation. From my observations just across many friends who have gone to nursing school it seems the less picky about what department you work in at first the quicker you will get hired, regardless of the college you attended. It is a pretty penny but if it’s something you’ve always wanted to do, I’d say one year is a sweet deal to make those dreams reality!

They are unprofessional and it is beginning reflect on SMU/the ABSN program as a whole. I have made my decision to go with my other choice. Good luck to everyone here!
