Hi everyone! Just wanted to get the conversation started for those who applied for the ABSN Fall 2019 cohort. I applied for the Sacramento location but would love to connect with all who applied in general! Good luck everyone!

Hi doglover.28, I think you can update it anytime. You can update awards/achievements, new work or volunteer history, grades, and maybe a few other things. Not everything is open to be updated, but if it is, you should be able to do that now.
@MamaKat916 thank you! because I remember last cohort, there was a specific date to wait for when the updates were open to to make changes but this time i didn't see any date
Hey everyone! I realize this might be a little early in the process (and I may repost at a later date when admissions are sent out), but im a current absn student at the sac campus. I have some textbooks & scrubs that are needed for the program that I'd like to sell~ If you are interested you can text me at 5103184450.
I have a nursing diagnosis book, a drug guide book, 3 Small Scrub tops, 1 XS figs navy bottom, all of which I can sell around August :)
Good luck everyone!
Hey guys, how many times did you guys take the HESI? And if more than twice... What other school code did you use? My grades and everything is pretty good but based on everyone’s HESI score, I might need to retake mine... but I’m going to wait and see what they say.
I also finished all the required classes, and I’m currently in Micro which ends on May 20th. I’m hoping that won’t affect me. But they did say you can have current classes in progress but not too many.

Drea143, you’re going to have to call or email the SMU admissions counselor on that one. My understanding was that SMU will only look at two HESI attempts. There may be a time span for that rule, though? Maybe they would let you take it a third time after a certain period of time has passed? But when I asked, they told me twice was all that was allowed.
Do you mind if I ask what your other stats are? Maybe you’re better off than you think? Oh and to answer your question, I took it twice.

I had 2 classes in progress for the ABSN Summer cohort (which will end at the same time as yours), and I still got a decent spot on the waitlist! Unfortunately, I'm still waiting to hear back for that one....?
Lillypod, you’re right. My friend Christine was accepted for the Spring 2019 cohort and she had two classes in progress at the time of her application. If they like what they see, and you have a good track record, I’m sure they consider you a competitive candidate.

I had a meeting with Ann Seed before and you can only take it twice with SMU code, but you can take it however many times with other school codes and just have it transfer to SMU office of admissions. I have 3.40 in Science courses without the Micro class, and so far I have an A in micro and it ends May 20th. And idk what my overall gpa is but I have all A’s and B’s for my last 90 units. And HESI I barely made the 80% cutoff mark. I had 2 references from college science professors. And I have work experience as a caregiver for elderly people but no volunteer work. I also took pathophysiology and pharmacology online with SMU in which I got A’s in.

If you are a qualified applicant, meaning that you’ve met all the requirements to apply, you will get an email saying you’ve passed preliminary review. Anyone who applied and is not a qualified applicant will get an email saying that they have not passed preliminary review. (Or at least that’s my understanding). It doesn’t have any weight in terms of who will be accepted and who might be waitlisted. I still haven’t received mine yet, but it looks like last cycle it was WEEKS after I turned in my application. So no reason to worry!
