Hi everyone! Just wanted to get the conversation started for those who applied for the ABSN Fall 2019 cohort. I applied for the Sacramento location but would love to connect with all who applied in general! Good luck everyone!

Also, has anyone asked about the waitlist movement for the January cohort? I was going to email the school today but wondered if anyone was in touch. I am number 11 this time around.
Thanks,
Missy
Hi Missy,
I had the same status as you. I was waitlisted at number 14 on my second time applying but I got in. The waitlist moves on average by at least 10. Following that, they take the first 3 on the waitlist and accept them into the following semester. You may not get into the semester you initially applied for, but you are still in good standing.
I would not recommend pulling yourself out of the waitlist and reapplying for the December 1st due date since your number is so close.
I am speaking from my experience. I know they say every cohort may not be the same, but I was accepted a month after the waitlist moved and placed into the following cohort. This is not an unknown pattern. SMU tends to do this every application cycle.
Hope this helps!
Thank you CardioCardi,
That does help. Do you know when the people who were accepted have to pay their deposit?
I am putting together another application in Nursing CAS. Are you saying if I reapply I will lose my waitlist status?
I just put an email out to Derric but he rarely responds to me. If he does respond I will be sure to share the info.

If you want to apply by the December 1st date then they require you to pull yourself off the waitlist prior to turning in your application. So it's really up to you which route you want to go. If you haven't done anything to improve your app (ie take classes, finish pre reqs, or test higher on HESI) it may not be worth it to reapply and just wait it out.
This is my advice considering we were in the same boat but if you would feel more confident on repplying, then by all means
Derric does not reply as fast however if you message any other admission counselor, they would be able to help with some info. They all have access to your app.

I was waitlisted for Fall 2019. I started at #10 and moved up to #1. I was invited to orientation and they guaranteed me a spot for Spring 2020. I believe they do if you are in the top 3 at time of orientation about a month before the program starts.
Hey! Last time around how many were admitted after the intent letters were due? Or did you just move from 10-1 during that time? Just trying to gauge movement after that time!
