Hi everyone! Just wanted to get the conversation started for those who applied for the ABSN Fall 2019 cohort. I applied for the Sacramento location but would love to connect with all who applied in general! Good luck everyone!

It seems like it depends on the campus and the cohort as to how far it moves. I want to say that Sac moved 12 spaces for the Spring 2019 cohort? It was definitely 10, but I think 12. But the Bay Area campus had much less movement than we did. Sometimes it depends on if people applied to multiple schools or programs. If so, they’ll lose some to that. It also seems like the top 1, 2, & 3 spaces get offered slots for the next cohort without reapplying. I’ve just noticed that from some of the previous threads. Kathryn told me that one cohort went all the way through their waitlist, but most of the time it’s barely out of the single digits. Likewise, how Elliebear said that she was 14 one time and 15 the next, there’s no guarantee that you’ll be better off than the last time you have applied. It all depends on how competitive this particular cohort is. BUT... I heard from many sources, Kathryn included, that said being on the waitlist is a compliment. They have fully qualified applicants that are simply denied. So any spot on the waitlist is their way of signaling that they like you, and they just want to see some improvement or persistence from you! So I take comfort in that!
The people from the waitlist are notified via email whenever there is movement on the list. So initially, I saw a huge drop in my number... like 6 or 7 places. Then, every few weeks, I’d get another email saying that I’d moved one more spot. They’ll keep sending those out until 1 week before school starts. Once orientation hits, the waitlist gets dumped and the whole process starts again.

I was able to move up 25 spots for last spring's cohort (still wasn't enough for admission unfortunately as the waitlist went out to 49 people). That's not to say the first 25 people on the waitlist got in, only that it moved a lot. I imagine people drop off the list because they get in elsewhere, etc.

Which campus was this for?
I applied for Spring ABSN 19 and was waitlisted for Sac..I think it moved 10 spots? I was 16, and last stopped at 6. Just reapplied for Fall, and have been reading all the comments on the last couple threads! It's been so helpful, thanks everyone! I hope we all get yes's this time!
I added a LOR with my professor and manager, completed 2/3 classes which were pending last time, and added another volunteer internship with Dignity. Hoping these improve my application! Good luck everyone!
I haven’t gotten one yet, but have in the past. Could be because my second recommender finally sent in his LOR this morning (meeeeh). For Spring 2019 Sac ABSN, I got the preliminary email 23 days after applying, then got my first waitlist notification about 9 weeks after that. I had waitlist updates almost every two-three weeks which was really nice! Seems like we will be hearing back sooner for the Fall start.
I haven’t received a preliminary review email yet either. But based on the last cycle, I know that people got them sometimes weeks after another applicant got theirs. It didn’t seem to be predicated on the date you turned in your application or based on names/alphabetical reasoning. I’m not sure we ever figured out a pattern to it! Hopefully we’ll all see them soon.
Elliebear, I wouldn’t worry that your LOR just came in. They allow you to submit by the deadline and the LOR’s and transcripts kinda roll in as they do. They know you can’t control that. I’m sure you’re fine!
