Samuel Merritt ABSN Fall 2019

Published

Hi everyone! Just wanted to get the conversation started for those who applied for the ABSN Fall 2019 cohort. I applied for the Sacramento location but would love to connect with all who applied in general! Good luck everyone!

So I was just going back through the message board for the Spring 2019 cohort and realized that the couple people who were accepted later than everyone else didn’t have to wait through the weekend. They actually got their acceptance letters on a Saturday. So that’s hopeful! But the letters did come out in waves and it was unnerving to see/hear people get accepted/rejected/waitlisted and not know where you fell in that group. Fingers crossed for the early AM emails!

The reapplication process isn’t horrible. You can utilize NursingCAS to transfer almost all of your info to the new application. You’ll have to update some stuff, but it really takes a fraction of the time.

Yes, you’ll have to do the whole process over for letters of rec though :(

BUT! You can start your app now and send out the LOR requests before your profs leave.

Good luck!

Cpowers,

You’re right, it’s not a terrible process. I rewrote my statements, my CV/resume, and got the letters of recommendation in within about a week. And that was just spending a little time each day.

Anyone got any email regarding their applications? Thanks

Nope. Sounds like the emails usually come out fairly early in the morning. The tortuous wait continues...

Wish there was an online portal we can check application status.. soo weird that they don’t have that

Nada. Nothing. Zip. Zero. Hopefully tomorrow.

Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to clarify up the HESI requirements for a future applicant. I was looking at the Samuel Merritt website and it leads to a webpage where you can register for a proctored exam at any location via Examity or the distance examination at a specific location. Do they both allow the same time and test the same subjects? Would love to have feedback from anybody. Thank you and good luck to all applying this cycle ☺️

Hi Heather95,

As far as I know, each school defines what their requirements are for the HESI. So as long as you put the Samuel Merritt code in when you are registering for the exam, it should be the same time allowance and the same subjects selected for the exam. It should only vary if you are taking the exam under a different school code. I hope that answers your question? Good luck!!

Thank you for your response! I did register with the Examity proctored session but it says a time limit of 120 minutes for the Samuel Merritt admissions test. I thought that seemed rather low in comparison to what their website states (ie 50 minutes for grammar, 50 for vocab, 50 for math, etc.). Is that approximately the time you were given when you took yours?

No, that seems really low! I seem to remember having 4 hours or more. I don’t remember the amount of time offered for each subject, but there was A&P, Math, Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, and then a section on your personal learning style. If you don’t mind me asking, which campus are you applying for? Where do you live? I live in Sacramento and the “distance” testing center was 5-10 minutes from my home. Maybe you could reschedule at a location that’s near you? The Sacramento one is in Citrus Heights, near Sunrise Blvd and Madison Ave.

Does the proctored exam allow you to take it at home? Because in all honesty, I think I finished in under 2 hours. I wonder if they give you 120 minutes because proctored exams on your computer don’t allow you to get up and take breaks?

Hopefully today is the day!

Last year it was May 30th. I have work at 3am most days so here I am anxiously checking my phone for most of my workday lol
