Salary for a new nurse in Nashville

Published

I graduate in December 2014 and I will be relocating to Nashville. Does anyone have an idea of the pay for new nurses in this area?

Specializes in GI, Primary Care.

When I graduated 2 years ago, starting salary for a new grad at St Thomas (including what was then Baptist and MTMC) was $18.50, not including shift differentials. Centennial, and probably the other local HCA hospitals, was $19.96, again without including shift diffs. These may have increased since then. Not sure about Vanderbilt or other hospitals (Williamson Medical Center, Gateway, Sumner Regional, etc), though the VA likely has the highest starting salary for new grads. I am currently working at an outpatient GI clinic and endoscopy lab making $25 per hour + OT.

Be forewarned that while the health care industry in Middle Tennessee is robust, there are a LOT of nursing schools here cranking out loads of new nurses twice per year and competition for hospital positions for new grads can be fierce. Good luck!

Here in California no experience new grad 28 to 31 dollars Cna starting at 10.98

Vandy pays the lowest but benefits make up for it supposedly

I hear they've done a lot of cutbacks...Both jobs and benefits

They have but vandy is a place where they typically hire internally so benefits i mean by advancement for growth, learning experiences, etc. Vandy has been around for 188 years i believe. So that hospital has been the caregiving for generations of families in middle tn

I graduated in May 2014. Just started working my first job and it's $20.30/hour.

Good luck finding a job! Start the search early!

I started at $21--something at the VA with awesome benefits last December (2013)

Specializes in L&D.

Anyone know the pay for an rn with 2 to 3 yr experience?

Specializes in Emergency, Cardiology.

Centennial new grad base pay now is 22.50/hr. I believe weekends are $3/hr plus nights $2/hr

Vandy pays just shy of $21/hr: new grad residency.

In case anyone's interested, starting pay new grad at St Thomas is 20.80, night differential 3.75, evening differential 3.75, weekend differential 2. This was from their new grad program information/interview session
