  1. Sparkle Pants McSpazatron I don't normally post but.... bwahahahaha!!! Brilliance. Carry on.
  2. What about RODP (Regents Online Degree Program)? They offer all online classes with clinicals in the Middle Tennessee area. You are assigned a home school - MTSU, Austin Peay, TSU, etc. - from where your degree will ultimately be awarded. They currently offer MSN in NP, education, and leadership.
  3. Congrats on finding just a good fit!
  4. Agreed. Vague job description and haven't actually met the nurse manager or anyone that I'll be working with or seen the work environment. Going on a wing and a prayer here!
  5. Tyler...you must have been part of the same hiring group at the Nashville VA that I am! I know that they were processing all the LPN jobs first, according to the nurse manager. I heard back from them last week and have now completed vetpro. Going this week for physical and fingerprinting and working on wrapping up my 4 dimensions of nursing document (did you have to do that as an LPN? ). So, it sounds like we'll be co-workers ). Congrats on your offer!
  6. Have you started yet? Finally spoke with HR yesterday about doing my physical, fingerprinting, vetpro, etc. She said this part of the process may take up to 6 weeks.
  7. Still in process. I don't realistically see myself starting before May at this point.
  8. I graduated in May 2012 and was was working by July 2012. Middle Tennessee.
  9. I wish! I have had NO contact from HR. Very frustrating on a different level. No one can seem to give me any sort of timeframe after receiving the tentative offer.
  10. Still waiting on my end. I interviewed back in December and was given a tentative offer in mid-January. The nurse manager stated that I would be hearing from HR to continue the process, but no word so far. It seems that they hired about 25 people for PACT expansion so that could be the cause of the delay. Will keep you posted...
  11. I'm interested in this as well! I'm in exactly the same place as you - tentative offer as a Care Manager for a PACT team and in the process of being boarded. I currently work for a GI clinic with my time split between the office and endoscopy.
  12. I hear they've done a lot of cutbacks...Both jobs and benefits
  13. When I graduated 2 years ago, starting salary for a new grad at St Thomas (including what was then Baptist and MTMC) was $18.50, not including shift differentials. Centennial, and probably the other local HCA hospitals, was $19.96, again without including shift diffs. These may have increased since then. Not sure about Vanderbilt or other hospitals (Williamson Medical Center, Gateway, Sumner Regional, etc), though the VA likely has the highest starting salary for new grads. I am currently working at an outpatient GI clinic and endoscopy lab making $25 per hour + OT. Be forewarned that while the health care industry in Middle Tennessee is robust, there are a LOT of nursing schools here cranking out loads of new nurses twice per year and competition for hospital positions for new grads can be fierce. Good luck!
  14. Good to hear from you! Did you register for classes online? My understanding is that we needed to wait until the week of August 23 but if we can do it now, I'd rather get it out of the way! I just submitted my packet to TSU and VA (will be doing clinicals there) and I'm glad that's taken care of. I've also been doing the summer reading and labs and have a recorder ready to go! Will you be working at all during the program? See you soon!
  15. I applied only once before being accepted. I've completed 6 of my 7 pre-reqs with a 4.0 (finishing up with A&P II this summer). I had to take the NET exam as part of the process. I can't recall exactly what my scores were, but I netted out in the 99th percentile. I have no idea how my stats measure against others who have applied or how much competition there is to get accepted as I don't personally know anyone who's been through the program before. Good luck!
