  1. I am finishing up my third week of orientation at the VA. The first 2 days were general orientation and the next 5 days were for general nursing orientation. I have been orienting with another PACT RN and her team for the last week. I am really enjoying it. The EMR system is the easiest system I have used. The responsibilities are similar to a regular doctor's office. The staff all seem to enjoy their job and the veterans are a pleasure to work with. I will probably be in orientation for another week and then I will be assigned to my own PACT team. I feel like I have finally found a place where I will be really happy working for a very long time. The benefits and perks for working for the VA are hard to beat. It was a long and tedious process to get hired but feel blessed that I was given the opportunity to work in this position. Sorry I could not respond directly back to you CheezeETs through PM. I have not posted enough on here yet. I hope this helps.
  2. I have not started my position yet. My first day will be March 9th. It has been a long journey, but I am excited to start. I applied back in September and did not interview until mid December and received my tentative offer about 1 week later. I have done a lot of research on my own. I googled "VA PACT" and read a couple of articles about the history of PACT, how it started, and the statistics on how much is has improved the flow of seeing patients. I also found the PACT employee handbook online and have read that. Even though I have done plenty of research, I still do not know exactly what to expect as it seems each team and hospital runs their PACT team differently. I will try to update on how I like it after I start.
  3. I have a tentative offer with a local VA hospital as an RN for their patient aligned care team (PACT). I am in the process of getting boarded right now. I am wondering if anyone has worked in this position and if so do you like it? It is a Monday through Friday position with hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm. I have worked in an office setting before and wondered if you usually get out on time and is it comparable to a physician office outside of the VA system? Thank you.
