Hello all. just reading different threads and wondering what does the starting salary look like for a grad nurse? i live the in Atlanta area so any ball park figure will do. thanks!
Southern California OR $37-38/hr with benefits (vacation/sick PTO, health/life insurance, retirement, tuition loan payment, etc)I'm also a May graduate, got this job because I got to know the nurse manager while I was doing my internship in the same hospital. Currently, SoCal is supposedly easier to find jobs then NorCal but I believe it's just difficult to get a job in California right now. I have friends in Southern, Northern, and Central CA all having difficulty getting hired. PLUS, they're worried because soon there will be Dec graduates to compete with.
haha, not anymore. I can buy a brand new home in my area for under 150k, and i make 37 on nights. Of course...if the economy keeps up the whole state will be unemployed and we'll all have to move.
Nashville TN. The hospitals seem to be paying new grads with the RN license about $18.00/hour to start, no matter what kind of hospital experience you have (I have zero, some were techs for years - all the same rate). I have heard this for almost every hospital in the area, in town and outside of town. LTC seems to be around $22/hr not including shift differentials.
And at my hospital I got a $3000 sign-on bonus but get it in 3 payments at different times across 18 months.
The cost of living is way lower here than in NY, NJ, PA or CA.
My fiance is way disappointed, LOL. His mom (an RN with over 30 years in) kept telling us "Oh, you'll make $25 to $30 starting out". Maybe she's going on the rates from the Baltimore area where she worked for most of her 30 years...
