Im a new ED RN....I am not allowed to do conscious sedation because I am not of that RN class yet (according to a very knowledgeable staff member)...I am not questioning that staff member, rather simply looking for more information about this issue...thanks
  2. I am just starting and saw "give purple Popsicle" by a PA, lol
  3. You don't have IVs? No saline flushes? Please explain that one.
  4. either drop him and give him a chance after school OR make more time for him...it wont work in between
  5. Im a new grad in May. Ive got a job lined up at a local ER, but I did my preceptorship in one, and then they offered me a job. I would try to get involved in the ER before you graduate.
  6. no, NC is not any different. I applied many places, however, got lucky in my small town hospital and offered a job at my preceptorship. good luck
  7. we had to get it for our final semester (current semester)...great book actually. it doesnt have everything we need to know, but the stuff it does have is really useful
  8. im about to do it starting this summer. i am finishing my preceptorship in the ER now, got offered a job as soon as i get licensed, and am starting an externship in march to to a long orientation first. pretty excited about the whole situation.
  9. "are you studying to be a doctor"? "oh, you are in nursing school, well we need those too" "my grandson was studying the same thing as you" (referring to med school) you do get a lot of hate, especially if your ears are perked up listening for it. just remember that you know much more than these people about your career choice. AND KNOW THAT THEY APPARENTLY DONT READ THE PAPERS ABOUT RN BEING THE TOP CAREER CHOICE OF 2009!
  10. no im not jealous of anyone. id love to have your experience, but that would mean i would be much older and not starting a new career. maybe i can comment on this thread again after ive had a few interviews
  11. haha, no don't take it personal, i was just commenting..... i am graduating in May and hoping I get a job at that time
  12. depends on your school...med surg. was harder at mine
