Every area is different. In FL, pretty much the bottom of the totem pole, lol, starting pay for new grads is between $18-$20/hr.

the offers I've seen here in Pittsburgh so far have been $19.50/hr with a $4,000 or $8,000 (if high needs unit) bonus. 2 year commitment

Specializes in Med-Tele, Internal Med PCU.
St Peter MN is starting new grads at the state mental hospital at 31/hour....

I'm originally from So. MN, too bad psych isn't the direction I want to go. Been thinking about moving back after graduation and licensing, what else you have? Thanks.

MA- Just graduated Dec 07, was offered 28/hr plus 3.85 shift/diff. Depends on hospital, community hosp. offers 30.00 per hour plus 2.00 shift/diff.

How about GN pay for L.A. (lower Alabama:lol2:). Looking at Mobile area.

I've interviewed for four NICU positions in four different states in the past month and was offered:

FL: $20.19/hr

NC: $22.00/hr

NH: $24.00/hr

CA: $32.00/hr

Specializes in ICU, Telemetry, neuro,research.

in south florida, the base of the bottom of the totem pole for nurses and teachers payscale, it is from 18-23$/hr depending on the size of the organization. and if an organization tells you they will pay off your student loan for nursing school, understand that means they will pay off a percentage of your student loan for nursing school for each year that you work for them. jackson memorial hospital and the va down here in miami have such programs because they are teaching facilities connected to the government. be very clear before you sign anything.

Specializes in Adult-Geriatrics.

I haven't read through the entire thread, but a really helpful website is www.salary.com. They have a salary wizard and you can type in your zip code and they will give you a nice graph with the avg. salary in your area depending on your position. I know this doesn't give you an idea of starting salaries necessarily, but you can at least look at the salary range.

Hi. I'm new. Just passed my RN boards and I don't know where to begin. Currently working for Maxim making 19.50 (LVN rate). I just applied to UCSD medical center new grad program.

Does anyone know how much UCSDMC start new grad RN's?

If it's anything close to sac's rate it should be $35 a hour.

Im a new grad, I just took an offer in Brooklyn New York. $69,000 base + $ 6,000 for nights, 12h shifts. The average rent here in brooklyn is $1200/month. I dont understand. In Florida RNs make $40,000 to $45,000 a year and i was checking out their rents is also $1200/month. Can someone explain this to me:confused:
