Anyone have any idea what a new nurse makes in the DFW area? I am interested in getting into the OR.

There was a job fair at my school just the other day. Baylor starts graduate nurses at $21 and Parkland gives graduate nurses $24 and some change. Those are the only 2 hospitals that actually told us salaries. Good luck!
Does that include any shift hours or is that just the base?
That's the base. Baylor didn't give their differentials, and all I can remember for Parkland is $6 for the weekend diff. I'll look back through my paperwork and see what else I can see.
Thank you, appreciate the info

A $23 hourly base rate is what most hospitals in the DFW area will pay to a newly graduated RN. Some hospitals, such as Baylor, pay less than the $23. Some facilities, such as Kindred, pay much more.
Okay, here's what the Parkland packet says.
They have a 9 month "OR specialty nurse course"
Graduate nurse or nurse resident $24.52/hr
evening shift diff (3pm to 11pm) $2.75/hr
night shift diff (11p to 7a) $3.50/hr
weekend shift diff (3pm fri to 7a mon) $6.00/hr
if you work an evening or night shift on the weekend you will be paid both the shift and the weekend diffs.
hope that helps!
Pefect, thaks for getting back to me.

UT Southwestern salary information for new graduates is as follows:
$23.00 per hour
Shift Differentials:
$3.00/hr (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm)
$4.00/hr (11:00 pm - 7:00 am)
$5.50/hr (weekends - 11:00 pm Fri. - 7:00 am Mon.)
The differentials stack. Also, there's a sign on bonus of $3000 after one year and a pay increase to $24.44 beginning the thirteenth month of employment.

I talked to the nurse recruiter for Texas Health Resources today when he was at my school. He said that the starting salary for new nurses is $23.50, but I didn't ask about the differentials. He said that some of the hospitals have bonuses, but each hospital is different when it comes to those. I did not ask about differentials.
