Anyone accepted for the Fall 2008 semester? I just got my acceptance letter!!! Yay!!! :)
Sorry to those who PM me. I'm new to this forum, so I haven't been given the privilege to PM others. Apparently you have to post at least 15 posts in order to be given access to PM. -.-
Ok to clarify what i wrote in the previous posts & to answer the msgs I got:
- the time line from my entrance exam to my acceptance was pretty much the same as AP726. I took the test 9/4. Got a call on 9/11 and went in for the interview on the same day. I got my letter on 9/17.
- Your test results take a little less than a week for them to get. B/c I got my exam scores in the mail exactly a week after I took it.
- They call you to schedule an interview after they reviewed your test results.
- The school interviews the applicant and then talks about you in the admissions board. The admissions board has weekly meetings to discuss those that they interviewed. (I asked the person who interviewed me.)
- I had said that there are 38/40 spots left. I meant that there are 2 students who have accepted the seat for the Spring 2010 semester (they paid the deposit). It doesn't mean that only 2 letters of acceptance were sent.
- Please keep in mind that this is only my experience of the process. It doesn't mean that this IS the only way the process is done. If you have more questions, and you've already taking their entrance exam, the best advice that I can give is for you to contact the school personally. They will be able to help you more. Also, if you already have your examination results, you can call them to discuss it.
I hope this helps. Sorry for spamming everyone, as well as writing a LONG msg.
I believe your overall still has to be a 2.5 (or whatever it said on the sheet). However, in terms of your grades for the pre-reqs (a&p1, a&p2, micro, etc), I don't think it matters. Because if you didn't receive a grade of C or better on those courses, you will be given the opportunity to take it again when in the SPSON program.
I believe the test is the school's way of giving students another chance. Meaning, sometimes there are family/personal matters factors that were the reason why you didn't get an A in a course. So the test is another way for the school to measure your performance, instead of basing it 100% on previous courses. Therefore, I wouldn't exactly say that it "counts more than your actual grades", it is just what they look at first, and THEN they look at your grades.
Hi,
I'm scheduled to take the exam this Friday. I have a previous degree in Biology and I am nervous about getting in. I am having no problems with the review book and am doing quite well, I'm actually afraid since I have only 3 (maybe 4) subjects which are pre-requisites and am confused about the admissions process. Do you have to have all the nursing pre-req's to be accepted?
My co-worker who I heard about the school is a SVCMC graduate who actually got accepted straight out of High School and was wondering with the name change and the location change if they do still accept students straight out of HS? (It really still in the same school, right? Maybe... I hope?)
I'm hoping that even if I have a degree in an unrelated field and no experience I still might have a fighting chance, if I do well on the exam.
Any info would put a little ease to my nervous state of mind right now.
THANKS!

i actually took the exam twice. i had tried for last year's spring class as well, but i didn't do well. which is why i don't think the review book helped. that is what i studied from the first time. i don't know how to help you study. -.- b/c the 2nd time, i didn't study at all b/c i just feel that the less pressure you have, the better. verbal isn't a strong area for me, but i just did my best. oddly enough, i did better with that mentality than reviewing. lol so yes, i was accepted. just take your time and read the questions through. don't rush. & just relax. =)
did u do much better the second time u took the test. congrats
to babybbue - yes, I did do better the second time.

I called the school today and mrs. w something answed, we were talking about the importance of grades and she made sound like the GPA was a big deal than the actuall DET test. Im confused and i didn't wanna ask her any thing else because she had an attitude. I was just trying to get some info:cry:. I messed up in A&P 1,2 but i took them over , how will they judge me on that. Can anyone that got in give me some insight on what they know and have observed. Because i think this school is my only hope of fullfilling my dream is anyone else with me lol..
I have a 3.2 gpa now and i got accepted and i did well on the entrance exam, I think the determining factor is both combined but i know that the essay counts as well, i dont think they will hold it against you that you took it over as long as you did better. I had a C in A&P. Just take the exam and try your best!

You know yourself better than anyone else. So where ever you think you are weak, just work on that. Haha- I feel as though I'm giving you contradicting advice. =P
