Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers School of Nursing - Queens
Hi, I'm scheduled to take the exam this Friday. I have a previous degree in Biology and I am nervous about getting in. I am having no problems with the review book and am doing quite well, I'm actually afraid since I have only 3 (maybe 4) subjects which are pre-requisites and am confused about the admissions process. Do you have to have all the nursing pre-req's to be accepted? My co-worker who I heard about the school is a SVCMC graduate who actually got accepted straight out of High School and was wondering with the name change and the location change if they do still accept students straight out of HS? (It really still in the same school, right? Maybe... I hope?) I'm hoping that even if I have a degree in an unrelated field and no experience I still might have a fighting chance, if I do well on the exam. Any info would put a little ease to my nervous state of mind right now. THANKS!

Thanks for the info. I have sent off my application and hopefully it won't come back, and I can sit for the exam. I am very nervous about taking the entrance exam. I got my copy of the recommended reading and am currently studying it as much as possible. Can anyone tell me how long each section is? How many hours do you sit for the exam? I have been reading to boards and everyone seems to be saying the exam is not too tough. English is not my first language and the reading comprehension in the book is quite difficult for me. I'd really like to get into this school. I'm a Laboratory Technician and I have been looking into nursing as a career change for ages. Are there any other pointers I should know? Any response is very much appreciated.

Hi Everyone, I am applying for the Spring 2010 evening classes, and am having trouble with my application. Apparently the temporary address I sent my application to no longer is located in Great Neck and my application came back to me. I called the school and they gave me the 30-50 whitestone expressway address and I am sending it there. Is this where all of you applied? I'm afraid my application might come back again so maybe I'll drop it off in person. And can anyone tell me what's the best way to commute to this location? Thank you, This application process is driving me crazy!

Thank you guys for the information. I have decided to take tonight off and head down to the school tomorrow morning. I have taken both A&P and passed with a high grade, although most of my lower grades are in subjects unrelated to Nursing like Calculus and Molecular Biology. I'm actually interested in taking the courses over again from scratch. (I graduated almost 4 yeas ago Microbiology.) I too am wondering if they allow students to repeat classes. Hopefully I'll receive some sort of information tomorrow. KatML are you applying to the Queens campus or the SI one?

Thanks Linda for the info. You wouldn't happen to know if the Staten Island campus and Queens campus have the same application's process? I mean, If I apply to one campus does that also include the other? I wrote the SI campus today and got a lengthy reply. They should be sending information via air mail soon. I am more interested in there Queens campus but I have been unable to contact them. The e-mail's come back to me and the number is sending me to voicemail. I have an degree in biology and am afraid that my GPA was not high enough upon graduation, (I barely graduated with a C average) to be eligible for acceptance. Does anyone know if there a minimum GPA cut off? And how much do they take that into admissions consideration?

Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers School of Nursing - Queens
Hello, I was looking into applying to St. Vincent's and am at a dead end. A co-worker of mine (Who happens to be a graduate of SVCMC) had suggested this school to me and when I went to their website I found little to no information. I spoke with someone over the phone to request information about applying for their Spring 2010 semester and she had promised to send me information with no result. I also sent an e-mail but for some reason the e-mail keeps coming back to me telling me that it is not active. Is there anyway for me to request information or should I just go down to the school and knock on their door? My current schedule offers me little time to do so. Does anyone have any information about the Application requirements at this school? I hope that someone will respond, Im in desperate need of information! -s
