Saint Louis Community College Wait List

U.S.A. Missouri

Published

Hello,

My name is Les. I began my college career as a biology student... I decided about a year ago that I wanted to be nurse... I enrolled at SIUE as a prenursing student. At first it was really important to me that I get a BSN , but now I'm thinking of getting an ADN because of I have two small children. I can't afford to be in school forever. I want to go to Forest Park.. I already know quite a bit about the Nursing program there.( I went to school there for a semester), but I wanted to know how long the wait list is .. I've heard conflicting information. I've that the wait can be anywhere from 3 years to 6 months. Can anyone in the program(at any campus) tell me how long they waited???

I have a question for current STLCC students..was it difficult for you to get ahold of someone in the admissions/advising offices? I have left messages and e-mailed both Forest Park and Flo Valley and have not gotten response back! I am currently going to Maryville..which is way crazy expensive and I think that I might like to go to STLCC. It would make more sense financially. But the situation that I am running into is that everywhere seems to be a two year wait..so if this is the case then should I go ahead and just get my bachelors?

MCalvin: How long until you have all of your pre-req's done? If you still have a year of those classes to take, then I would take the dosage calc test right away and get on a wait list. A girl in one of my pre-req classes is going to STLCC nursing and the wait list was only a year! A lot of people change their minds or go elsewhere.

I basically have to start from scratch..since it has been over 5-7 years since I took my science pre-reqs. Right now I have done college orientation and intro to pysch that will transfer. At Maryville I am currently taking Human dev thru the lifespan and comparaitive religion and culture. I can't get ahold of anyone at STLCC to set up the assesment testing that is required to see where I need to start!I also am researching Hannibal Lagrange University.I live in Lincoln County and everywhere I go will be about and hour drive, so it will all come down to finances and time!

i think the psych, bio (regular biology not the a&ps), chemistry and the dosage calculation test are needed to get on the list. the rest can be done while waiting. yes, it’s hard to get a hold of someone in the admissions office. however, i did have some luck when i called on thursdays and fridays earlier in the day.

Thanks Abbs..I will try again. I have sent e-mails too! I was accepted to FP for summer..but since I can't get ahold of anyone in order to take the assesment test..it will probably really be fall before I start now!

If I were you, I'd sign up for Chemistry and Biology at STLCC for the summer so you can take the dosage calc in the fall. Then you can get your name on the list and by the time you're done with A&P 1 &2 it will already be a year and you will probably get in around Fall of 2012 or Spring of 2013. I took Chemistry at STLCC as a hybrid course, and only had to go to physically attend 7 labs the entire semester.

So if I was accepted to FP and want to take an available hybrid or online course at another STLCC campus..can that be done?

Yes, you can take your pre-req courses at any of the STLCC campuses regardless of the specific one you want to go to for Nursing school.

Thank you!! I really appreciate all the helpful information!!

Has anyone heard anything lately regarding the wait list?

I haven't heard anything but I am pretty sure the next waiting list letters get mailed out sometime in September after the Fall semester starts.

Thanks! Getting a little anxious over here :)
