Hello,

My name is Les. I began my college career as a biology student... I decided about a year ago that I wanted to be nurse... I enrolled at SIUE as a prenursing student. At first it was really important to me that I get a BSN , but now I'm thinking of getting an ADN because of I have two small children. I can't afford to be in school forever. I want to go to Forest Park.. I already know quite a bit about the Nursing program there.( I went to school there for a semester), but I wanted to know how long the wait list is .. I've heard conflicting information. I've that the wait can be anywhere from 3 years to 6 months. Can anyone in the program(at any campus) tell me how long they waited???

Hello, I am on the waiting list at Forest Park and Meramec. I was wondering if anyone received a letter from Forest Park yet regarding what number they are?

I just got my letter for Meramec. I haven't gotten one for Forest Park yet so I called and asked.

Thanks Abs 31, I am so hoping to start the program in spring 12, I put my name on the list in July of 2010. I will call FP tomorrow.

So I am 144 at FP and 154 at Meramec, praying for Spring 12, I will take a few more classes that will go towards my BSN.

I'm really hoping (and praying!) to start then as well. I'm slightly further down the list though. I got on the list in mid Aug of 2010 and I'm 177 for Meramec and 217 for Forest Park. What a difference one month makes huh? I applied to Flo Valley also. Last I checked in August, I was in the early 100s there but they only admit in the Fall. Did you put your name in for Flo Valley? I'd prefer FP or Meramec but with all this waiting, I'll take what I can get.

No, I didn't care to put my name on the list for Flo, and I too prefer Forest Park. I have met a few ladies that put thier name on the list after I did and they are ahead of me, I am not sure on why, I have completed all of my prereqs before I even put my name on the list, but I am not complaining, I am taking classes that will go towards my BSN, have you completed all your prereqs?

That's strange, they shouldn't be ahead of you. I saw a post on this site where someone said they got on in September but they were a few spots in front of me? Something's not right about that. Yes, I have everything done. I originally was going straight for the BSN at UMSL so I even took those classes that were required there. It was 7 prerequisites in all. It was a real pain while I was working full time. I'd like to just go back and get the BSN and not wait on this list but from what I've been hearing, the pay difference isn't substantial at all. AND the tution at UMSL went up about 13k from when I first applied. Ridiculous!

Hey Abbs or Tam I was wondering if you got your Forest Park letters in the mail today? I got mine and I'm up to 203 at FP and 218 at Meramec, so it looks like I'll get into Forest Park first since I heard that list goes by much faster. I'm really hoping to get into Forest Park in Spring '12 and the admissions lady said I have a shot so you two will probably get in since you are a bit higher than me on the list. I was going to apply to UMSL for Spring 2012 and for the accelerated BSN that starts in May '12 but I saw how much tuition went up there and I don't know if I want to spend that much!

Yes, I got mine yesterday. She told me over the phone I was 217 for Forest Park but my letter says that I'm now 169. Can't believe I was in the 3 hundreds 6 months ago! Chessnight - yes, UMSL is pretty steep now. I hear it's a great program but you'll def pay for it. When I was first interested in their program it was about 21k total for two years....now 32ish. Crazy! I just figure I'e be taking the same test after getting through their program as I would STLCC. BUT at the cc I'd be loan free. It makes it a little less stressful for me with the whole going back to school thing.

Hey Abbs, and ChessKnight, yes I did get my letter from Forest Park and I am 144, I hope we all start the nursing program in Spring 12, we have been waiting patiently. Abbs, after you are done with CC, depends on where you will be working, they will pay for you to get your BSN while attending UMSL. My plan is attend UMSL when I am done. I found out last week that UMSL will not take my nutrition class that I will be starting next week, but I decided to keep the class just in case I end up at Chamberlain or Webster. Wow Abbs, what a big drop from the number that you was given over the phone, that was good news.

I just finished my first semester at forest park. Some semesters you will jump up by quite a few numbers. I put my name on the list summer of 2009 and was about 221 on the list. I heard a girl in my class say one day she was number 36 on the alternate list after the original 48 got their acceptance letter so we almost had everyone deny their spot lol I love forest park though the teacher really do want you to succeed! You will be in before you know it!

Thanks Ziggie! :) I hope I'm in soon. I really want to go to Forest Park but the admissions people there said the Flo Valley list goes by faster. Which to me is strange because they only accept in the Fall? Oh well, we'll see what happens. So, was the semester really difficult? Are you taking just the Nursing courses?...or do you have the general stuff (Eng, Hist etc.) to take with it? Any information would be great! I'm hoping I can have a part time job while attending.
