Saint Joseph College Brooklyn Spring 2018

Published

Good Morning everyone,

I am so excited that I finally got into Nursing school. I got an email this morning from SJC advising me that I got accepted to the nursing program for spring semester. I originally applied for Fall'18 because I was told by the admissions that they only accept Fall admission. But low and behold a few weeks later I got an email from them stating that a few spots opened up and if I would like my application put in for Spring '18. That was a no brainer, so I dutifully accepted and the wait almost killed me lol. Finally got an email this morning and I began screaming. Finally guys, it's been a long grueling journey that I thought would never end. I have all As and a couple of Bs in my prerequisites but my overall GPA is 2.9 which is pretty low and I had almost given up on getting into any program. I also got accepted into a weekend program in Dominican College but the transportation was a little to much to go upstate and I had a few more prerequisites that they needed me to complete. Please if anyone got accepted or is an alumni I would love to hear your thoughts on the program and any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

@louismimi it was good actually. They have so many applicants. I couldn't even get to the nursing dept. They told me I needed an appointment. Anyway I am working with admissions. They said they make final decisions for spring in January.

@louismimi they mentioned sometimes students drop out midway of the program and that's how seats will open up in the spring which I can't imagine it's a lot of seats. I noticed that their pre nursing curriculum is also a bit different.

@michiboo yes she told me the online curriculum is different from the one they have because pre nursing curriculum is way too many classes compare to other schools. She said the online are for freshman, I would be applying as a transfer so it different.

@michiboo I won't know after students take their midterms if I'm accepted to the spring semester. Probably in December. Students probably drop out because it's way too many classes.

@louismimi yes it is a lot of classes

Hi Louismimi,

the classes are wonderful. The work load is a lot but as I mentioned doable once prioritized. The clinical sites I believe may not the same every semester however this semester the sites are in Brooklyn and Queens.

Hi, @sweetkeish I ve been placed on waiting list for the spring semester. My concern is Curriculum courses I saw online even though she told me it's different don't follow the online curriculum it's for freshman. It's a lot curriculum classes to be completed for this school. I would be applying as a transfer student. I thought the school do clinicals in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Hey Louismimi,

I had the same dilemma. I thought the curriculum was so much, but what you see online are for incoming freshman. If you have most of the required sciences and general classes you're already half way there. Don't let those class loads online deter you. they will evaluate your transfer classes and let you know what classes you need. I believe clinical sites may not the same each semester. this semester its Queens and BK.

Hi, @sweetkeish I will know in a couple weeks whether if I'm accepted into the spring 2018. The finals are next week and they will start putting in the grades so I'll know by then how many seats are available.

@michiboo did you apply for the spring semester?

Hey Louismimi,

I'm keeping my fingers cross and sending out positive energy your way. You got this. A seat is saved for you and no one can take that away.

@sweetkeish thank you I'll let you know the good news in a couple of weeks
