Saint Joseph College Brooklyn Spring 2018

Good Morning everyone,

I am so excited that I finally got into Nursing school. I got an email this morning from SJC advising me that I got accepted to the nursing program for spring semester. I originally applied for Fall'18 because I was told by the admissions that they only accept Fall admission. But low and behold a few weeks later I got an email from them stating that a few spots opened up and if I would like my application put in for Spring '18. That was a no brainer, so I dutifully accepted and the wait almost killed me lol. Finally got an email this morning and I began screaming. Finally guys, it's been a long grueling journey that I thought would never end. I have all As and a couple of Bs in my prerequisites but my overall GPA is 2.9 which is pretty low and I had almost given up on getting into any program. I also got accepted into a weekend program in Dominican College but the transportation was a little to much to go upstate and I had a few more prerequisites that they needed me to complete. Please if anyone got accepted or is an alumni I would love to hear your thoughts on the program and any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

Congratulations, you must be ecstatic!!! How's the nursing program so far? Are you attending the SJC Brooklyn, or SJC Long Island?(if you dont mind me asking)

How's nursing clinical rotations going? I have interest in applying for (Fall 2018 SJC Brooklyn) so whatever feedback you can give on their program will be greatly appreciated.Best of luck to you!

Thank you foodprincess1. So far its great. I needed to complete a couple of prerequisite which I will be done with in a couple of weeks. I am officially starting all my nurse classes this Fall. I am very nervous and excited to start this journey. I have a uniform fitting in two weeks and then a mandatory nursing orientation thereafter. I am blessed to finally begin this journey. Are you already in a nursing program?

Hey sweetkeish I have good news!!! I begin SJC in the fall!! I got my acceptance letter in the mail yesterday, and I am so excited!!!! I have to make an appointment to register for classes, however I think I still might require a few prerequisites.

I know I will need genetics, no doubt about that.If you did take it at SJC do have any words of advice on succeeding in that course?

If you don't mind me asking which prerequisites did you take this semester? I would truly appreciate any advice you have on the prerequisites they required you to take this semester.Your advice would be a huge help for me, since I'm kinda nervous but excited at the same time lol.

Are you SJC Brooklyn campus or SJC Long Island? I hope it's Brooklyn, maybe we can meet one another in the fall :)! Looking forward to your reply, hope all is well with you!

congratulations!!!!! I am so happy for you. Yes, I am in the Brooklyn campus. This semester I took 8 classes

1. Genetics - Mondays, both lecture and lab(there is only one professor I believe for this class who is also the head of biology. She's pretty nice).... Grade A

2. Nutrition- Tuesdays & Thursdays..... Grade A

3. Sociology- Tuesdays & Thursdays... Grade B- (This class is pretty easy but I am not strong in writing papers which is a good bulk of the class. There is a tutoring center but between my classes and working full-time I couldn't lol)

4. Nursing 201- Tuesdays (this is taken right before Nursing fundamentals and it is also math calculation for nursing class).....Grade A

5. Transfer seminar- Mondays.... Grade P (passed)

6. Ethics- Wednesday.... Grade A

7. Computer- Saturdays..... Grade A

8. Religious study- online......Grade A-

Genetics class was a lot of info but not bad at all because a lot of stuff is from Anatomy and Physiology 1. The professor is fair and lab is fun. I'm not sure if they will allow me to put my email here but if you can PM me I will give you my study notes and guide so you can get started early. My advice for this class is to read the book and go through the powerpoint lectures that is posted online and sit infant the class and you'll do good. I start my nursing classes and clinicals in September, so if you have any questions or need advice or books let me know and I will definitely help where I can.
