Saint Joseph College Brooklyn Spring 2018

Published

Good Morning everyone,

I am so excited that I finally got into Nursing school. I got an email this morning from SJC advising me that I got accepted to the nursing program for spring semester. I originally applied for Fall'18 because I was told by the admissions that they only accept Fall admission. But low and behold a few weeks later I got an email from them stating that a few spots opened up and if I would like my application put in for Spring '18. That was a no brainer, so I dutifully accepted and the wait almost killed me lol. Finally got an email this morning and I began screaming. Finally guys, it's been a long grueling journey that I thought would never end. I have all As and a couple of Bs in my prerequisites but my overall GPA is 2.9 which is pretty low and I had almost given up on getting into any program. I also got accepted into a weekend program in Dominican College but the transportation was a little to much to go upstate and I had a few more prerequisites that they needed me to complete. Please if anyone got accepted or is an alumni I would love to hear your thoughts on the program and any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi guys I wanted an advice. I am a little confused . I don't know what to do. I'm obsessed with nursing. But now I have a problem. I applied in Sjc for the spring semester. But, I discovered last month that I am 4 months pregnant and soon to get married. Today Sjc emailed and said that " they have an opened seat, if I still want it." I don't know what to do mostly with all that responsabilities I will have. I don't know if I should tell them if they can save it for the fall semester for me, or if I should go part time in that spring semester. I'm so confused. I wanted to be in that school and be in that major. But now I don't know how I should feel. Please give me an advice

Hey! For which class the seats were open. The freshman, sophomore or junior? How many classes do you have? This will determine if the workload is going to be too much since it may just be pre-requisites or actual nursing classes?

I don't take any A&Ps yet. I failed A&P 1 but I passed the other pre-requisites with A's, only in English comp 1 I got B+. I only took Math 104, Gen chemistry, English comp 1&2, Psy100, Soc 100, Psy 240, Health and Spanish classes

What other pre-requisites will I need to be in that nursing program after religion, Statistic, micro and A&Ps ?

Yes. But If they accepted you into the freshman class, you can probably handle it bc you'll be taking prerequisites and gen ed.

I'm working full time. I don't know if my boss will accept for me to go part time job so I can go part time school. I didn't want to leave my job because I think it will be too much for my husband. I didn't want anyone to think that I am selfish. And I know yet it will be hard with the house's responsabilities and baby, and job& school

Hi all,

Hope you are safe as well as your family members. I got accepted to St. Joseph's College for this upcoming fall 2020, they had me in on the waiting list for almost a month LOL so I was a little skeptical if they were going to accepted me or not. I'm super excited they accept like 45 credits from my previous college which is not bad. Just wondering how are you doing with your classes, and how it's the program in reality. I know it's a small school which I like that. I bet you are super busy or enjoying your Summer so far. Which is a relief that we came out from Covid-19 now to the Riots one thing after the other. 2020 is being a crazy year so far.

Just in case this is my email: [email protected]

Hi sweetkeish,

I am thinking applying to the nursing program at SJC for Spring 2019. Any advice you can give me to help?

Hi Sweetkeish,

How are you? I'm staring the upcoming fall at SJC any thing you could advice us.

My email: [email protected]

Thank you

Congratulations to you and all the others that got accepted for the fall 2020. However, I am a bit disappointed and disgusted with St Joseph College. My friend and I both applied for their Nursing program. We both have our Bachelors degree already We applied to sjc fall 2018. We were told that we needed ONLY 2 more classes. philosophy and speech all the other prerequisite we already had. My friend and I both went and took those 2 class, mind you they were not cheap. ($2000) .Long story short prior to all this we were told by Mr. Roberto that both me and my friend were number 1 and 2 on the waitlist for fall 2020. All we had to do was take these two classes and we will be fine. We both got a letter in January stating that we were place on the waitlist for fall 2020 which we already knew because Mr Roberto already told us . Anyway, I called like 2 weeks ago to my surprise to be told .I am sorry but the class for fall 2020 is full.. smh ...I said well what about the waitlist they response was. They already took the maximum number off the people off the waitlist. Like are u serious. I spent all this money on these 2 classes for u tell me this. when I first was told that I was number 1 on the waitlist.. Listen I can't, I really can't. Good luck to all off u that got in. As for me this will not deter me. I will become a registered nurse. God share bread not man.

Hopefully you are doing well, as well as your family members.

Well I declined my option to go there. I really wanted to go st.Josepth it looks like a good place but they played too much. They never get me a straight answer. They give me a scholarship for 10k which I was so excited about but when they told me I had to do 16 credits that I needed. I was like okay I can do this Fall 2020 semester and start the Nursing program in the Spring 2021, I was okay I can deal with that. But what got me annoying you couldn't adjust your own schedule they choose it for you, they wanted me to take 6 credits this semester and and 10 the Spring semester and I asked why??? I can do 16 credits without no issues and I asked that will not covered my financial aid as well my scholarship because you need more than 12 credits to qualify. I was so furious I went back and forth until I declined they offered.

I accepted an offered at CMSV they offered a better scholarship. Even though its more expensive I will pay less than St.joseph which was cheaper because you will have to take loans. Maybe it won't happen to you. But it happen to 4 people that I know already.

I will start school Spring 2021,

I attached the requirements so anyone could have an idea of what you are getting. I forgot to mentioned of my 64 credits that I had from my Associate they only took 42 compared to CMSV that took all of them. I only have to take 2 more course and you could take any of them at any community College instead of the private schools. You will be paying triple.

Hopefully this will help with your decision. Anything else shot me an email.

Thank you so much. I will definitely look into the college of mt saint Vincent. I have my Bachelors in Biology so hopefully I don't have to take no classes. I honestly thinks St Joseph picks and chose who they want to attend their college. They did the same thing to another friend of mines wanted her to take like 6 more classes and wanted her to split it up and on top of that they chose her schedule smh..it's like they play games with people..so not fair. I tried liu but sis this tuition ain't no joke LOL...will definitely look into mt saint Vincent . Thanks so much.

Yes I don't understand what the schools make it so hard for students. I believe what you said they pick and choose. I was so disappointed because I really wanted to go there but after they played me like that, I was like hell now. I just got an email Sunday from the department of Nursing asking if I'm not registering this semester, If they would have put me in those courses during the fall 2020 I would have gone to SJC. That's funny when I asked them to put me in all the courses they completely ignored. Don't talk to me about LIU is a joke. I got accepted since December of 2019, the first thing most of the schools do is your financial aid package plus scholarship, can you believe it after all of this going back and forth all of this month I got so fed up and mad at them for not providing that to me. Imagine since December they just posted because I harassed them so many times, it was mediocre what they were offering it to me. I was like peace and it was a waste of my time.

Yes, contact them, most of this school you have to harass them and be in their behind. Maybe you might need (Organic Chemistry, Philosophy and Religion)

Keep in touch future RN.

Alex
