Does anyone know if Saddleback does a dual enrollment? Or have some kind of agreement with other colleges so we can start our BSN while in the program?

Hey, I was thinking the same thing yesterday and I looked over the nursing page and I couldn’t find any information. If you find out can you update.
Thanks

They used to have one on their page. Seems they took it down.

I can reach out.

From what I remember I believe CalState Fullerton allows you to take classes during the Summer after the first semester. This way you get a head start for the BSN degree.

Hey,

this is what I can see on CSUF website. I uploaded the RN-BSN roadmap.

Wow, thanks for posting! What are your feelings on doing both programs at the same time? I'm not working or anything so I want to get all of this done quickly, but I am afraid because everyone says nursing school is so hard.

Congrats on getting into the program and all you’ve accomplished thus far. I see you have a lot of degrees under your belt. So, honestly it really depends on the person and your worth ethic and dedication. While I was in the LVN program in 2014 I worked full time, planned my wedding and my daughter was 6 at the time and required a lot of time, and I managed. Not to say it wasn’t hard but I managed and did exceptional in the program, but again that goes back to work ethic and dedication.

I would say pace yourself and get a feel for the program then decide if you want to work on both simultaneously, because nursing is a different ball game then other fields, example, when I was going to CSULB for my bachelors and taking GE classes (Stats, history, soc, psy, etc), I didn’t care to “really” know the information, I just studied to do well on exams, as opposed to nursing, this is our life and livelihood so we have to study to retain the information in order to pass our NCLEX and practice as a confident and competent nurse. So studying is different and can sometimes become overwhelming.

Lastly, I don’t think it’s possible to do both programs at the same time as it says you have to have already completed a ADN degree in order to apply. What other classes will you need to get your ADN? Will you just have to complete the nursing classes or are you still needing to take other GE classes as well?

Sorry for the long response, hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you need help with anything else.

Update:

I actually had 90 points in total when I’m actuality I thought I applied with 84. I was told that the life development psych class I took over the Summer at GWC was actually transferable to both of the Lifecycle classes at Saddleback! So if you guys are looking for an easy way to get a total of 6 points by just taking one class, that’s an open suggestion.

Yes I took that same class, and it was a breeze, definitely would suggest doing that instead of having to take the 2 classes at saddleback. The class at golden west is PSYC G118-Life Span Developmental Psychology.

Here is GWC's Course Equivalency Grid. In it you can see that GWC's PSYCH G118 equals both of Saddleback's 2 Lifecycle courses. That way, if you happen to be closer to say Cypress, Santa Ana or even one of GWC's sister colleges (Orange Coast - PSYCH A130; Coastline - PSCYCH C118), you can take the course equivalent and get the "2 for 1" class deal. Hope that helps
