Can you ask the teacher for an extension and put a little more work into it? As a professor, I would be happy to grant a short extension to a student who told me the story you related in your post. I would be impressed that the student was evaluating her own work and wanting to do better.
However, if you decide to ask for an extension ... I would do it in conjunction with handing in what I had already done. I wouldn't want the instructor to think I hadn't made an effort and done the work. I would hand it in saying something like, "Here is what I have done, but I am not happy with it. I am hoping you will grant me an extra 2 or 3 days to improve it."
Good luck with whatever you decide.
let me give you a tip. i write many and i mean many papers (hundreds) ..you need to get a mla and apa template so your referencing will only take seconds not hours. i think that the microsoft word 2007 actually has this program you just need to access it. i use the software from reference point.
