Hello everyone!
I'm new to this website and I'm planning on applying for Spring 2016. I know we still have a couple months before the application opens but I'm anxious! I've been looking forward to applying and can't wait to get going. Anyone else applying for next spring?
Thanks!
Sent in my supplemental yesterday! So excited :).Total 87 points.
GPA: 3.92
TEAs: 91.2
9 extra optional points (hopefully they let me have them all!)
Btw, the application said to register for classes even if you're not admitted or something like that?? I'm so confused. Does anyone know what that means? And how and when should you resister?
That's awesome! I'm still waiting on one more transcript from out of state before I send mine in.
When they say to register for classes, that just means, when your registration time comes up, don't pass it by. Register for whatever you want (your 2nd Major choice, other GE's, etc.) as if you are not getting in, because you can always drop those classes should you get in. They just don't want you to miss your registration date and then have to wait until the open registration the week before classes start.
Good luck! Your points score looks great!
Ohh I'm a second bachelors and they told me not to apply to general admissions but to only pay the $35 fee and send in the supplemental. Maybe that's why I'm confused lol. Because the email wasn't clear about second bachelors. Hmmm looks like I will have to wait till orientation to register for the classes then. Ugh.
I have 102 points:cool:. Although some may disagree, I think the point cut off for last semester was too low. It fathoms me how people are worried about getting in, or those who even worry about the CSU app itself.Nevertheless, good-luck.
What are you trying to say? The points cut-off is determined on the last person admitted into the program, do you think they should not have been admitted? Also, people are worried about being accepted because Sac has a very competitive program! Not everyone qualifies for extra points or has 102 points, even with a 4.0! That's great you have all of those points, but don't knock those who don't, that's just rude!
I was not trying to imply "they" should not be admitted. I was concretely stating how the point system for Sacramento did not seem to be challenging, in my opinion. (No other abstract intentions further than that.) And, I want to stress the word "opinion," because I initially joined AllNurses so that I could express my own honest, raw, and personal emotions and thoughts on issues such as these. I apologize that my opinion offended/agitated you.

Ok, fair enough. I was not personally offended but I did feel the post came across as a bit condescending. However, that could be just how I read it. Sac state is one of, if not the hardest program to get into in this area. I'm curious as to why you think it is not challenging?

I also thought that post was very condescending. In fact, I originally thought it was a troll so I just left it alone. To get a score of 102 you would have to have a perfect (or near perfect) GPA, TEAS, and have some of those bonus points. Based on the stats it looks like that is pretty rare. In fact, half of the applicants for this fall were below the alternate cutoff score, so that has to tell you something.
As a mother to three young children, wife, and full-time student I have worked incredibly hard to earn my points and I think it's safe to assume that most of the nursing applicants would say the same. I am grateful for the struggle though as it will make the acceptance that much more rewarding :)
I scored a 94.6% on my TEAS, which shouldn't be that dubious, as long as one fully commits their preparation for this test. I also qualified for 12/12 points from the optional criteria. I came from a low-income family, disadvantaged HS, took AP spanish, and racked up 100 hours from Sutter Gould. Also, getting a near perfect GPA is not that unrealistic either, since nursing does not require that many pre requisites. I guess I was just so excited with my total score and the fact that it wasn't that rigorous for me, that I didn't think about limiting/filtering my expressions. I'll probably restrain from sharing similar news in the future, since I've stirred a small, yet unpleasant commotion.
if anything, I'm slightly hurt that I was called a troll for my points...but, I can see why stats would make someone call me out for that.
Well good for you for having 102 points. You must be so smart and so sure of yourself that you absolutely need to brag about it and announce it on a community forum and at the same time, put down others for worrying about the application because it was so easy for you. But I bet you that a nurse that tries their best, worry about their performances and keeps trying despite their low points because they really want to be a nurse, will become a much better, much more modest, compassionate, empathetic nurse than someone with 102 points that comes on a forum to talk down to people. You wanna be honest? Well I'll be honest with you. Your attitude and tone isn't gonna get you any friends in nursing school. Smh.

Honestly, my opinion on your original post was based more on the tone rather than your points. The screen name didn't help either. If you have looked at the stats for prior semesters and/or the posts from prior cohorts you would know that it is incredibly rare for someone to qualify for all 12 bonus points, as well as achieve a near-perfect GPA and TEAS score. You were obviously one of those lucky few. Congratulations! I would be excited as well! Since the overall experience was easy for you I can see how it would be hard to empathize with those of us who have spouses and children relying on us to achieve this goal, and making huge sacrifices along the way. The application period is stressful mainly because we have a lot riding on the acceptance and/or denial. So I now understand that maybe it was a general lack of awareness rather than you intentionally trying to be condescending.
This forum has provided an amazing opportunity for all of us to support, encourage, and learn from one another, so please don't feel like your thoughts and opinions are not welcome. We will all (hopefully) be classmates soon enough and I'm sure the support and encouragement will prove to be invaluable.:)
