Sacramento State Fall 2020

Published

Hello! Welcome, and Good Luck, everybody applying!

I am applying at the last minute since I just took my TEAS yesterday. Does anybody know what “no courses omitted from adjusted nursing GPA” mean? I have one repeat science course due to family emergency and I missed the drop date with a W so I ended up getting an F. I took the class again and got an A. But there’s an optional criterion for both “no courses omitted” (2 points) and “no nursing prerequisite/core requisite REPEATED courses (2 points). Do I qualify for no “courses omitted” points or not for both? Please note I now have a 4.0 GPA after retaking physiology from fall 2019 which I originally received an F from Summer 2019.

I am not even sure if I filled up the application right since I entered my most recent physiology grade where I received an A. There is no option to enter both my A and F grades! I am so lost and worried I will mess up my application... Help!

Hi! I believe you just enter your repeat grade. They’ll see it on your transcript during verification that you repeated it is what I’m guessing. For your points, you do not qualify for the no repeats points since you retook physiology after getting a letter grade but if you did not check any of the omit boxes on the right hand column when completing your application, then you do qualify for the no omits optional points. Hope this helped!

Omitting a grade is simply discluding a grade out of the GPA calculation which is often used when you get a B or C in a class. This is called your adjusted nursing GPA and is what is looked at in terms of determining points for the GPA category. Please note that if a tiebreaker is needed for determining position, unadjusted GPA and amount of repeats is what they look at (along with TEAS score and military service).

Thank you! So from my understanding, I enter A in the application and not my first grade which is F? Do I click "omit" or not?

Thank you soo much for the clarification. I think I have to start all over again with my application LOL

Okay so I think here are my stats:

Adjusted Nursing GPA - 4.0 (40 points)

TEAS 92% (22 points)

Health-Related Work Experience (3 points)

Bilingual Language Proficiency (3 points)

First-Generation College Student (4 points)

Environmental Background (4 points)

No Courses Omitted from Adjusted Nursing GPA (2 points)

Total: 78 points

Yes! Enter the A grade on your application and not your first grade or else that will be the one they consider (which will deem you as ineligible for the program). Do not click omit for your physiology grade however, if you checked the omit box for any other grades you received that you didn’t want considered in the GPA calculation, then you don’t qualify for the no omit points. Other than that, it sounds quite about right. If it gives you any assurance, your points with or without the omit optional points give you an extremely good chance of getting in. My friends in the nursing program told me anything above 69 is pretty safe!

Thank you so much for your help! And yes I was told last week that 69 is pretty safe since the cut off last fall semester was 67. I originally had 69 points with 85.3 % TEAS but I really wanted to be "safe" so I retook my TEAS yesterday, praying and hoping to score 87-88 so I can have at least 70 pts. Thank God I received more than what I need. Hopefully, I can really get in so I can join this cohort with you guys!

Hi Everyone!

So I just took my TEAS test today, and when trying to send my TEAS transcript to sac state (I took it at a different location) there were two options for Sac State, one says CA state Sacramento TEAS, and the one below it says CA state Sacramento. I wanna make sure I am sending it to the right place, which one do I choose?

Heidi said either one. She gets it either way.

It's not in your student account, it's on the nursing school website.
