Hi everyone,
My name is Daniel and I just wanted to create this thread so everyone applying to Sac State can share their scores and post any questions they may have.
Ill start!
Pre +Co requisite GPA: 3.92
TEAS Score: 88.0%
Optional Criteria: 6
Overall app score: 78
I am planning to retake the TEAS exam in order to, hopefully, get a higher score!
Hey guys, I have a silly question: can anyone explain me why they chose number 170 if they only pick 80 people for the program? I get that they have alternates, but 90 of them sounds like a big number. Thanks!
Just a guess, but 90 alternates appears to be a safe, yet reasonable number. In the last three fall cohorts, the number of declines were 34, 36, and 36, respectively. Also, keep in mind that it's the top 170 according to student reported data. There may be a handful of others that are deemed ineligible after spring transcripts, further evaluation, etc. /twocents
Oh, I see. Thank you!
One more question: when it says on website that number 170 and up will be notified on April 17th after 5 pm, do they mean that these people can receive an email anytime between April 17th and April 30th, or just on that only day of April 17th?
Btw, Did anyone receive an email ?

I imagine the email went out on April 17th after 5pm because there were 2-12 guests in this thread at any given time that evening.

I'm sure there were plenty of disappointed people that day....probably like there will be next Thursday too. Good luck to everyone though. our wait is almost over. Now let me go keep trying to distract myself for the next 8 days
Good luck everyone! I graduated from the program last year and I had such a wonderful experience. I know there's a few people on here that graduated from the sac state program and a lot of your questions have been answered but if you have some more just ask away!!! :)
That's awesome to hear! Do you know if it's best to go into a program in an area where you would like to work at in the future or not? If I do get accepted, I don't know whether to pick CSUS or SJSU. I heard that CSUS is the better school, but I would like to work in San Jose once I graduate. Thank you!

Thanks, xaireel. We've often heard the first couple of weeks of nursing school are among the toughest because of the frontloading. If we are accepted, how do you recommend we might prepare for this so it's easier when we begin? Are there any books you suggest reading?
Hi Jnnlm, I graduated last year and I can share some experience with you. It is absolutely important to have clinical experience at a hospital that you are trying to work at. I am not sure if you know, finding a job here in Sac(or any city in the bay area) is extremely difficult for new grad, you should definitely try to leave a good impression to the hospital you want to work during your clinical. You are right about CSUS nursing school, all staff are very encouraging. But if you want to live and work in San Jose, then SJSU will suit you better. I think SJSU 's admission to nursing program also enrolls less student compare to CSUS. At the end of the day, it really depend on where you want to work and live at because I'm sure both are great schools.
