Is anyone in this program? How hard is it to get into? Anything else you care to share about it?

Are all your classes with other RNs in the same program?

Is it online?

I've been to Rutgers website but would love to get an "inside scoop" from someone who goes there in this particular program.

I was just accepted into Rutgers a few days ago I'm transferring into the RN to BSN program. I'm super duper excited! I'm finishing my last semester of an ADN program in 60 days! I'm choosing my classes now and the first semester courses i'm enrolling in are all classroom based. So I think that answered one of our questions...

Do you mind sharing your gpa and overall grades. I want to apply but I hear its very competitive. Thanks in advance

I have a 3.4 GPA. I'm entering the RN to BSN program. I was told that as long as I had my RN it wouldn't be a problem getting accepted. I'm sure there is a GPA requirement. I'm just not sure what it is. But I have heard that the undergraduate "traditional" BSN program is really competitive and the "native" (current) Rutgers students get most of those slots with less than 10 slots going to all others! I heard that 3.7 GPA is competitive for that program. That's why I decided to just go for my ASN and go back and get the BSN. Rutgers actually suggested it!

Thank you so much for your quick reply! I also have an ASN and my rn license. Did you finish your prerequisites first before applying? I was thinking of finishing them up at my local community college, that way I can boost my gpa before applying. It's a 3.2. Also, from what I understand its an online program. So are there clinicals? If so is it during the day/evenings/weekends? I'm sorry for list of questions, I am trying to get as much information as possible so I can plan according since I'm working full time.

Thanks again for helping me out and congrats!!

Another option to consider is Chamberlain School of Nursing online program to go from RN to BSN program. Have a family member got their ADN from community college and enrolled. Most hospitals don't care where you got your BSN from just as long as you have it. Chamberlain offers classes in 8 week tracks, weeks 1-7 class and week 8 is for your final. if you go all year, including summer, you cam get it done in less than 2 years (14 mths). No waiting lists or GPAs to worry about. I am planning to follow this same program if/when I get my ADN. It's worth looking in to as another option in place of classroom learning. And because it is online, you can keep your job getting the experience you need while also earning your degree. Tuition rates are just as competitive as any other school. Good luck!

No problem! I did not finish my prereqs before applying. You need 30 Rutgers credits to graduate I'm just at 30 with the prereqs. Although, I do have some done already. I would call and speak to the RN to BSN coordinator about your GPA you may be perfectly fine with that! Having your license actually helps their nurse to student ratio and its easier to just walk into the program. I haven't started the classes yet but I was told from the staff that a few of the nursing courses you'll meet face to face for 2 class sessions or so and the rest they try to do online. I don't know many details but I was told that we'll have to do community hours but we could schedule them at our own convenience. Since I'm finishing up some prereqs that's not something I have to worry about this semester. I think it's minimal though...I don't know too much since I haven't started yet but I'm sure I'll know much more after the start of spring semester. If you have any other questions I'll try my best to answer :) Thanks again!!!

Hi, I just received my acceptance to RN-BSN at Rutgers Newark for fall of 2013.

I'm curious to see if there is anyone else on here who will be joining as well?

Let the fun begin again :)

Hi!!!! I just actually finished my undergrad at ru college of nursing (yayy me!) Very challenging competetitive program but very worth ur time if interested. They are very strict about failing. I know people who didn't make it, either because they didn't take it serious or simply just couldn't get it together in time. I loved it though. Made lots of great friends. Faculty is great especially the clinical faculty. If u get in take it serious from the gate so u dont have any regrets and if u don't get in dont give up!!!! If there is a will there is always a way!!!

Good luck. I just graduated from ru con. Loved it. Enjoy ?
