Rutgers RN-BSN

U.S.A. New Jersey

Is anyone in this program? How hard is it to get into? Anything else you care to share about it?

Are all your classes with other RNs in the same program?

Is it online?

I've been to Rutgers website but would love to get an "inside scoop" from someone who goes there in this particular program.

Thanks so much nycNurse2b! My first plan is to get a promotion at work! My job bases nurse level on education (first)...then certifications, and yrs of experience. My next move will be to get my national certification in the OR...CNOR.

I have some pretty big plans after all of this... :p get my Masters/Doctorate depending on what school I get accepted into for anesthesia...just gotta take it one step at a time :D

Good for you! Anesthesia - wow! Being a CRNA is no joke! That's awesome and I wish you the best with that!

congrats again and thank you for your help on this thread!

Hi guys, I am a nursing student at a local community college in new jersey. I will be graduating this May (2015) with an associates of applied science in nursing and be qualified to take my NCLEX-RN. However, I intended to pursue a BSN much like you guys. I was looking into Rutgers RN-BSN and im very interested. Since the off campus program began in which students may take Rutgers courses at various locations and it includes my school, I thought it would be a practical option. I know that I need to meet the GPA requirements and some other criteria for applying, but I am unsure on a few things. Fall application deadline is February. I am not graduating until May, and thus not taking my NCLEX until July or August. Does Rutgers accept students without an active licence until they pass their boards? Or will I have to wait until next fall to apply after I have passed and my license is valid? Ive been told that schools are different and im really curious about Rutgers standards.

Yes, Rutgers will accept you before you get your license. Here's why...you have to first apply to Rutgers University which is separate from Rutgers School of Nursing. You can't get accepted into the RN to BSN program without first applying to the University. My first semester I was so focused on proudly showing my license to be officially in the RN to BSN program...that was a waste of time and energy because it doesn't matter. Half of the semester I belonged to the College of Arts and Sciences before switching over to the School of Nursing once my license was verified...no biggie.

If you start at Rutgers the semester after you graduate from your ADN program they probably won't have your license verification done before classes start. Instead of waiting for your license to show up take your prerequisite classes that don't require a license. Your second semester you can began taking your core courses.

Information on the application process and requirements can be found here http://www.nursing.camden.rutgers.edu/prospective-students/registered-nurse-application-process

^^this for the Camden campus^^

You can select your intended campus when you began the application.

Thank you! I have heard mixed stories so I appreciate you clarifying. I was worried! I would really like to be accepted and enrolled in an RN-BSN program, or at least be able to show that I am taking classes towards that route upon passing NCLEX as I hear it increases likelihood of getting hired around my area. Thank you again!

Hello,

I'm currently applying to the RN-BSN program at New Brunswick (I graduate nursing school May). I'm afraid about my GPA. Any pointers/advice? How is the program?

Hi guys, I'm new to this! I've been digging around allnurses for a while and haven't gotten a direct answer for my problem.. I will graduate from my ADN program this May and I just applied for the fall RN-BSN online-hybrid program 11/26/16. I know I'm being a little impatient but how long does it typically take to receive an answer back? (whether admission or rejection etc.) The application deadline on the website is February 1st. Also, my GPA currently is 3.6 and I am a member of both Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Delta Nu....would my grades and my honor society memberships be enough to put me in good standings?
