Rutgers (formerly UMDNJ) ABSN Spring 2014

New member here. Just got my acceptance letter in the mail today (Newark campus). Thought I'd start a thread to get the conversation flowing. Anybody else waiting?

I just received acceptance this past week, a little late in the game. Does anyone live near Wayne? How will you be commuting everyday. Anyone know what the weekly schedule will be looking like and where we will be doing clinicals? I'm quite uninformed.

Hi Kerry,

There is a letter coming out explaining. The orientation is on the 5th of December and we will get more details about the structure of the clinicals. They can be at a hospital within 1 hour of newark, but we won't know our specific location for a bit. From others in the program, I heard our clinicals could be in the morning or evening, but I'm not sure. As for commuting, I spoke to one administrator that told me definitely drive over taking a train. I'm still deciding if I will live on campus during the week to avoid my commute.

Hey guys! Following this thread. Applied to Stratford for Jan but have not heard yet. Definitely interested in NALC but have to see dates. :)

Kim

beck, where are you commuting from? I have to take the parkway and I definitely don't want to be stuck in traffic when I could be studying on the train. But I also don't want to have to walk through Newark to get from the train station to the school.

Also, can you please explain NACL and TEAS? I have no idea what that means!

Thanks!

KMB471 message me and give me your email when u can

hey it wont let me message you but my email is [email protected]

Hey everyone,

Congratulations to all that have been accepted. I Just got my acceptance for the Newark campus for this Spring! Super excited, and nervous!! I can't wait to meet everyone.

Hey evc17, I had my BLS prior to applying, I believe all your pre-reqs must be completed before the application deadline. Good Luck!!

Has anyone heard anything about orientation for Stratford students? I was accepted at the Stratford campus. I got an email today from a program assistant in the School of Nursing at the Newark campus. There is orientation on Dec. 5 in Newark, and TEAS testing on either Nov. 12 or 19 in Newark. I asked her if there would be an orientation and TEAS testing at the Stratford campus, and she did not know. Does anyone know if there will be an orientation in Stratford?

Hey kmb471,

I work at the University Hospital in Newark now and I am applying to the part time program in December. But just to let you know they have a shuttle service that can pick you up from the front of the train station and drops you off right in front of the hospital, medical school, and the nursing school. So if you are thinking of taking the train, they make it really safe for you.

Thank you Drodriguez91! I was under the assumption that you needed all pre-req courses done but wasn't positive about the BLS!

In case anyone wants to save some money on the textbooks. I just received the two books from amazon the med math was 16 and the medical terminology was 22. They were both new.
