Rutgers Camden Accelerated BSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I'm currently taking pre-reqs to get into nursing school. I have my BA in psychology and am looking to get into an Accelerated BSN program. I have my eyes on Rutgers Camden. I was wondering if anyone had any info on getting accepted to this school. Any currents students enrolled in the program? Did you take the "recommended" pre-requisites prior to admission (Human growth & development, nutrition, & genetics)? I was planning to apply for Fall of 2015, but now that they're making the additional pre-reqs mandatory for starting that semester, I'm thinking I'll go ahead and apply for Spring 2015 admission and cross my fingers. (I haven't taken the additional pre-reqs) My BA GPA was 3.76 and I have A's in my science pre-reqs (I still have two to take in the fall). Any advice? Should I just go ahead and apply for spring admission, or should I just take the rest of the pre-reqs and shoot for fall admission?

I've sent two emails to Rutgers as well as calling, none were returned. I feel like I'm in the dark a little here.

Hey everyone, I havent been on here in awhile! I officially accepted my offer and paid the deposit. Haven't heard anything though! Congrats to everyone who accepted your offers! I will see you all in January!

I saw your posts about looking for a place to live. The Victor in Camden is actually pretty nice, a lot of students live there... and is in the "safe" part of the city. It's over top of a restaurant/bar and across from the stadiums. There are a few other apartments that are safe for students, I cant remember their names. You don't want to live in "the heart" of Camden though. lol

Living in Philly and commuting is another good option, you'd have a "reverse" commute so that's a plus. It took my husband 5 minutes to get to Cooper when we lived in Philly, and took me 20 to get the same distance for work but I traveled West into the city!

Does anyone know of people who have went through this program or who are in it now? It would be cool to hear some student feedback about what they like/dislike about the program at Rutgers. I heard we would be getting a bs in nursing instead of a bsn? Does anybody know if there is a big difference between the degrees or why Rutgers decided to do this? Sorry for all the questions! Congrats to those who got in and accepted their offers!

jhancock2! Congrats to you too! Yes I am looking for a place by January cross my fingers! Since I am from Cali I have no idea where to live lol I've been looking at places about 4 miles away from campus(Philly, Cherry Heel, Camden, Merchantville, Collingswood)and also public transportation routes to get to campus plus all clinical locations. But then I won't know until later..so I am pretty nervous because everyone keep telling me that I might need a car and don't think that's possible for this moment. So thanks for your input! ill look up the Victor :)

mru9213!I had the same question last time but I have been looking at people posts and here's what I found

Do you have a BSN or a BS? Does it matter? Does it hinder which nursing masters program one can get into with a BS? | Mighty Nurse

I don't think it matters both are the same just depend on the school you graduated from (technical nursing school/ generic university)

I have finally received my admittance offer. I spoke to the assistant dean yesterday and I am meeting with her this morning. One of my concerns, which I intend to ask, is the BS in nursing vs the bsn. I will let you know what she says. I also intend to get more information regarding the classes, scheduling and dates for orientation etc...I have many questions! I will let everyone know what I find out!

Congrats Amontie21! Good luck today!

Excellent @amontie21 keep us posted and let us know the details! Thoughts on making a facebook group?

Hey! So I met with the assistant dean and had a lot of questions answered..orientation will be December 11th. Also the BS of nursing is essentially the same as bsn...just depends on the accreditation of the school. She says larger universities tend to award the bs of nursing. Also the classes start on January 20th but we won't know out schedules until orientation! Hope that helps..I know it helped me a lot talking to her!

Thanks Amontie21! oh wow the orientation is less than a month from now. I am also scheduled to talk to the counselor by next Tuesday if you guys need some questions to be answered for me is definitely FAFSA and loans stuff...

Btw they only accepted 50 students i just talked to the nursing person so congrats to you all!

Fb group will be awesome if you guys are down

I figured I'd make a webpage through facebook. If you can, join it may make it easier to communicate throughout the semester etc! Reading through I saw orientation was 12/11.. That's so close and so exciting, who else is going?!

I will more than likely be at the orientation. Have we been officially informed of the orientation yet? I feel like I haven't heard very much more than general info so far..

I joined the fb group :)

Hey if I post on the fb, will the whole world be able to see it, or only the people in the group? I was going to post a little introduction of myself on there but I don't want to broadcast it to the entire fb world. haha
