Rutgers Accelerated BSN - Spring 2016

  1. Which Rutgers campus are you applying to for the ABSN program?

It's a little less than a month-and-a-half from the application due date for both campuses, and I'm up in the wee hours doing my best to ensure all the requirements are ticked off on my checklists :nailbiting:

I was unable to apply for the incoming Fall 2015 cohort, as I had more than three pre-reqs pending, but I'm hopeful to attend Rutgers' Newark campus in the spring. Anyone else excited/scared/unnerved with the application process (especially with NursingCAS; even with an upgrade to 3.0, it still does not seem any more intuitive), or has already completed it? Also, what are your interim plans while waiting for decisions?

After being a bit of stalker on the other threads (sorry!), I'm also hoping it won't turn into the debacle that has happened with the Fall 2015 acceptance letters... although,I might have just jinxed that, and maybe with an application deadline extension, to boot!

Here's to hoping this process goes well for all of us!

@bb18, If you applied to both campuses, did you receive wait list notification from each? Or just from one?

I got wait listed for both. They said we won't know for another 3-4 weeks if we get in. They said in the past they do take a lot from the waitlist because it's possible to get into both campuses , and obviously you can't attend both programs.

Hey guys - I'm new to this site☺️I'm planning on applying for the ABSN for the Fall of 2016; for those that have heard back (wait listed, accepted, etc) do you mind sharing your GPA, major, etc? It would be helpful to know what they're looking for.

Thanks and good luck to you all!

Did you find out via email too or did you get something in the mail?

I called and requested an emailed version. I'll be gone for the weekend starting tonight and wanted to know before I left.

Julip:

I was wait listed. I had a 3.3 gpa. I went to Fordham which has an intense Jesuit core curriculum with theology philosophy and humanities classes. This accounts for my rather low gpa. I was a Psychology major with a 3.7 in that. I had A's in Nutrition, A&P I , and Stats; B+ in A & P II. I am taking Microbiology now. My low grade was a C+ in Chemistry which was a retake. I orginslly took the course at Rutgers over the summer and failed. I am an EMT, shadowed a doctor, have research experience at Sloan Kettering, and currently work as a PT aide. My letters were from the doctor and my supervisor at Sloan. I am certain that the reason I wasn't accepted was my chemistry grade because my experiences and letters were seamless :/ I hope that this helps !

I only applied to New Brunswick..

Good luck to everyone!

Julip-

3.48 GPA undergrad from Ramapo College ('14), Environmental Studies major

3.39 GPA prerequisite at Bergen Community College (in-progress)

100+ volunteer hours in hospital setting

Prereq Grades:

A&P I- A

A&P II- A

Developmental Psych- A

Micro- B+

Chem I- B

Chem I lab- A

Nutrition- B+

Statistics- B

Taking Chem 2 w/ lab now, will likely wind up with a B in lecture and A in lab. Thinking my GPA for Bergen is low due to a Macroeconomics class I took several years prior (grade of C+) but ultimately had to factor in to my transcript...

I got wait listed via email. It was in my spam mailbox and was from a woman with a rutgers.edu email.

Hi all! I also got an email on 11/4 saying that I was waitlisted for the New Brunswick program. I applied to Newark as well, so hopefully no news is good news. I did get info mailed to me (via snail mail) yesterday about Financial Aid, so we shall see. I guess I will start that process just in case! Fingers crossed for all of us!! I'm assuming no one has gotten acceptance letters so far?

@ndamore I also received the financial aid information letter yesterday, wait listed from NB via email but no word yet on Newark.
