Rutgers Accelerated BSN - Spring 2016

  1. Which Rutgers campus are you applying to for the ABSN program?

It's a little less than a month-and-a-half from the application due date for both campuses, and I'm up in the wee hours doing my best to ensure all the requirements are ticked off on my checklists :nailbiting:

I was unable to apply for the incoming Fall 2015 cohort, as I had more than three pre-reqs pending, but I'm hopeful to attend Rutgers' Newark campus in the spring. Anyone else excited/scared/unnerved with the application process (especially with NursingCAS; even with an upgrade to 3.0, it still does not seem any more intuitive), or has already completed it? Also, what are your interim plans while waiting for decisions?

After being a bit of stalker on the other threads (sorry!), I'm also hoping it won't turn into the debacle that has happened with the Fall 2015 acceptance letters... although,I might have just jinxed that, and maybe with an application deadline extension, to boot!

Here's to hoping this process goes well for all of us!

Hi everyone,

Well from my experience for the Fall Semester Application, I believe there was only one decision committee for both campuses. Which might have been yet another reason for the late decisions. They also took long to even meet to sort through the applications and make decisions. It seems they are getting a bit better with that, so hopefully you all will get a decision in the coming weeks :D

Also, I 've heard that sometimes they don't get enough applicants for the New Brunswick cohort, so they end up combining it with the Newark one.

Hello Everyone,

I applied to the Rutgers Newark for the Spring. Does anyone know how long does it take to get an acceptance/rejection response?

Thank you mimi0914 you answered my question.

Received an email yesterday that my coursework has been verified and that they would be calculate my GPA an hour after I received the email. Not sure if they made the GPA section available to us because I don't see anything, but all of my flags are green in the Status section on NursingCAS! Hopefully a decision is made soon.

If you select download app you will be able to see your Gpa on the application

Has anyone heard anything more about decisions ? I contacted Rutgers on the 23rd and they said they were nearing the end of the process.

Haven't heard anything just yet. Planning to give them a call Friday afternoon, as it took some time for them to begin sending out decisions the last cohort (around the 5th week post-deadline); as many of the previous applicants indicated, the nursing department doesn't get any information regarding decisions until they're fully released from the committee, so I don't want to add to wave of callers they're most likely receiving already :nailbiting:

Still being "verified", and just remembered the large volume of credits that NursingCAS would have to evaluate from my transcripts... so I can understand the longer waiting time, but a little nervous about how it may affect being considered for the program.

Let's keep on hanging in there, and continue to keep yourselves productively occupied; decisions will arrive before we all know it!

Hi all!!! I also applied to Rutgers (New Brunswick and Newark) for the spring 2016. I just got off the phone with Rutgers and was told decisions have been made and will be mailed out tomorrow!!!!!

Thanks for the update! I called this morning, as well, but was told that they are finalizing decisions and will be sending them out "shortly" (had no date in specific), and only via regular mail. Hopefully your info is more exact!

Hello!!!

If this is true then you guys are lucky!!!!! this is relatively a quick turn around!! whoop whoop :woot:

However, they also did that to the Fall Cohort (strung us along) so just word of the wise... be patient. A lot of us would call incessantly and I think that had them moving faster (or they were just that annoyed LOL) but I cant say for sure. Also, a lot of people were sent e-mails before they received their acceptance package. Be sure to check your spam in case they sent it via e-mail.

*Cough......cough.....ask.....if they are being sent via email.....cough cough** LOL ;)

Good luck everyone!!!!:nurse:

Thanks MiMi0914 for the heads up, I make sure to look at my email as well. I was a little surprise to hear that they had made decisions today, but the man I spoke to sounded very confident in his response. Lets hope that he is right because I don't know if I can wait anymore!!

I called the program as well and heard that decisions were made and we should hear back from them by friday! **fingers crossed**
