Rutgers Accelerated BSN - Spring 2016

  1. Which Rutgers campus are you applying to for the ABSN program?

It's a little less than a month-and-a-half from the application due date for both campuses, and I'm up in the wee hours doing my best to ensure all the requirements are ticked off on my checklists :nailbiting:

I was unable to apply for the incoming Fall 2015 cohort, as I had more than three pre-reqs pending, but I'm hopeful to attend Rutgers' Newark campus in the spring. Anyone else excited/scared/unnerved with the application process (especially with NursingCAS; even with an upgrade to 3.0, it still does not seem any more intuitive), or has already completed it? Also, what are your interim plans while waiting for decisions?

After being a bit of stalker on the other threads (sorry!), I'm also hoping it won't turn into the debacle that has happened with the Fall 2015 acceptance letters... although,I might have just jinxed that, and maybe with an application deadline extension, to boot!

Here's to hoping this process goes well for all of us!

Nursing Cas Just received my last transcript after i had to send it twice. Now waiting on verification

Hi Lacerti,

Sorry for getting back to you so late! About my application status, unfortunately I don't remember how long exactly but I want to say ball park 3-4 weeks? Also, one of my sections was not fully finished since I was finishing up a class when I submitted my application. I was accepted as long as I presented proof that I had passed my class.

How's everyone doing with this long wait? Hopefully everyone will get an answer by late November! Good Luck!:):nurse:

Hey all!!

For those of you that are wondering about Rutgers Tuition/fees here is the link.... Tuition and Fees | Office of Student Accounting, Billing, and Cashiering

They have PDF versions for both Newark and New Brunswick. They just updated it - it is def. cheaper than other schools, for whoever was curious.

Thanks Mimi0914! I hope it'll be the same for us, a month wait (then, it'll only be about two more weeks from today =p)! I also hope they'll release decisions before the middle of November... so I change decision on taking the GRE for another application! :writing:

adrilambbb, I'm also in the same boat for "Verifying" :sorry: I'm hoping it'll complete in the next week, though, so there will no longer be any potential issues with the application.

rom12345, Rutgers won't be communicating with us until they've released admissions decisions (that sounds like a Jeopardy! answer, doesn't it?), as NursingCAS is their clearinghouse for processing applications; from what's been currently gathered, as long as you've completed your application with NursingCAS by October 1st (even if it is in the 3rd stage, 'VERIFYING'), your application may still be reviewed (however, I'm unsure if they will consider those that have a 'COMPLETED' application, as opposed to an application still in 'VERIFYING' stage). I mentioned on how to check your application status in a previous post, as well, so be sure to check it often!

Lacerti

your right! Technically if the school goes by what they generally publicize (which is a 6 week turn-around admissions decision) then it would be mid November, specifically November 12th! :woot:

I wish the waiting period included weekends and not just business days.......

I called NursingCAS once again to check on my status just now. The representative told me that although the admissions committee has access to see all of my materials on the application, I am still in the verification process (something I already knew). He then said my application was deemed "fully complete" since October 12 (which sounds about right since I had to resend them my transcripts), and that I should expect to see "Complete" on my NursingCAS status between date range November 9-12. I guess I won't be finding out if I got in until late november. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course I asked if there was anything I could do to speed up the process and he said no, that it takes about 3-4 weeks for verification to be complete after your application has been submitted with all necessary info and documents.

So I think it'd be a good idea for those of you who did not need to resend transcripts to call NursingCAS Customer Service and perhaps ask the date range for when you should see your status change from verifying to complete! :) Keep us informed here on the thread.

Has anyone spoken to Rutgers? They told me that decisions would be ready "by the end of the month", but I'm not sure if they mean by the end of October or November. If anyone talks to them please let me know!

Hey rom12345,

Just contacted both NursingCAS and Rutgers right after you posted:

1) Becoming a fully verified (aka "COMPLETED" status) application will take 4-6 weeks from the time of online submission (e.g., October 1st deadline submission = November 1 to latest November 15) to allow for NursingCAS GPA calculation, however being in "Verifying" status indicates that NursingCAS has received all required documents and have progressed to transcript evaluations.

2) Applications are in "Verifying" status are likely to have been forwarded to be reviewed, however assurance is only for applications with "COMPLETED" status prior to the October 1st deadline. Decisions are slated to be released by the end of this month, but because they are still waiting for completion of applications with the "Verifying" status, it may be to the middle of November (as that would the last date of which all applications with "Verifying" status would be promoted to "COMPLETED"). I was advised that I could call in tomorrow to inquire if my application has been sent for review to the admissions board.

From what was instructed, I'm assuming that the admissions board may have already sorted the applications to be reviewed, regardless of "Verifying" versus "COMPLETED" statuses, and will release decisions once all applications of those selected have become "COMPLETED" to follow admissions protocol. That being said, some applicants (most likely those who have reached "COMPLETED" statuses prior to/at deadline) will be contacted at the end of this month, and the rest of decisions will roll out based on subsequent decisions and/or changes to applications (i.e., "Verifying" -> "COMPLETED").

Does anyone know if there are separate admissions boards for both Newark and New Brunswick ? I applied to both programs and there doesn't seem to be a differentiation when calling the phone number provided. Will decisions for both programs be released at the same time ?

Hey Lizzie626,

I also did, and I'm hoping it increases our chances of being offered a seat.

I looked through the administration page and staff directory, and I can't say definitively if they have separate admissions selection committees; from the looks of it, they may have a single committee for both campuses (I know for sure the 3rd campus, Camden in South Jersey, has their own committee and admissions criteria separate from the ones we're all applying to), which could explain why it may have taken longer for decisions as seen with the previous cohort.
