Rutgers Accelerated BSN - Spring 2016

  1. Which Rutgers campus are you applying to for the ABSN program?

It's a little less than a month-and-a-half from the application due date for both campuses, and I'm up in the wee hours doing my best to ensure all the requirements are ticked off on my checklists :nailbiting:

I was unable to apply for the incoming Fall 2015 cohort, as I had more than three pre-reqs pending, but I'm hopeful to attend Rutgers' Newark campus in the spring. Anyone else excited/scared/unnerved with the application process (especially with NursingCAS; even with an upgrade to 3.0, it still does not seem any more intuitive), or has already completed it? Also, what are your interim plans while waiting for decisions?

After being a bit of stalker on the other threads (sorry!), I'm also hoping it won't turn into the debacle that has happened with the Fall 2015 acceptance letters... although,I might have just jinxed that, and maybe with an application deadline extension, to boot!

Here's to hoping this process goes well for all of us!

Yes exactly ! Are you from NJ? I'm from Marlboro and we don't have mail carriers in our town.. So our mail is usually delayed by a couple of days. A Rutgers rep told me that last semester all prople from the waitlist ended up being accepted !

I'm from North Jersey! And stop, no way.... a rep really told you that!? What a rollercoaster of emotions this has been. Let's call first thing Monday and go from there.

Congrats to all accepted !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes ! They said that the wait list is there for a reason. If people get accepted to both campuses they need to decline one which opens spaces. They couldn't guarantee for this cycle however.

Hey guys, congrats to everyone who has been accepted! I'm currently a level 3 in the program in Newark. Feel free to email me with any questions/concerns! [email protected]

To the people who were accepted : do you happen to know when the program starts ?

First day of classes should be January 19

Specializes in Inpatient OR.

Congratulations to all of you who've gotten accepted! And for those on waitlist, good luck!

I just came back from a family trip and was declined for both Newark and New Brunswick :( I had a feeling it may mostly be my

My stats:

BS in Nutrition and Health Sciences, graduate courses in Kinesiology (focus on cardiopulmonary rehab)

3.78 GPA for all pre-reqs --

A's for A&P I + II, Micro, Lifespan Psych

A- for Human Nutrition [which was 4 credits, no clue why]

B's for Gen Chem II, Biostat

I've worked 2 years at a community health center conducting PrEP, HIV/STI/Hep C testing and processing, and LGBT community outreach and clinic enrollment. A few years ago, I volunteered at the UN as a program facilitator and trainer for their staff (mandatory training module on "HIV/AIDS in the Workplace"), and a few months at a winter emergency youth homeless shelter.

I'm considering applying for their part-time program, but may also try and go a less gruesome route (ADN-RN to RN-BS) simultaneous to the other applications to accelerated programs, as I'm not sure if my profile is competitive enough; a friend advised me to take it slow and not feel to have to rush the process. Nevertheless, definitely not giving up and will try to be more pragmatic to my approach in getting into a program (and hopefully the same goes to all that were not successful in getting in this time around) to ultimately join the nursing ranks!

Reminder: I have been waitlisted.

I called early today in the afternoon and basically asked "Every school is different -- how does Rutgers handle the waitlisters?" The rep told me if someone doesn't "accept" their acceptance in a few weeks, the wait list will open. They cannot tell us where we are on the wait list, but she did tell me that she believes that if we ARE offered a spot in the program as a result of someone giving up theirs, we will be notified via email and mail. She said that these decisions will be sent around the end of December as to give the accepted students a chance to make a decision and/or get their requirements done (medical clearances, tuition payments, I'm assuming, etc...) So there is still a chance!

Congratulations to all of you who've gotten accepted! And for those on waitlist, good luck!

Lacerti, I intend on applying for the summer part time program, too! As well as Fall 2016. -- Whatever it takes. Every applicant pool is different therefore we may have a better shot next time!

adrilambb :

im not sure if you saw my post a few posts back. It is very common for the waitlist to be used. Last cycle all were taken. the head rep told me that. When people apply to both campuses, and are accepted to both, they need to decline one!

also , we will be notified end of November , not December!

Lizzie, yes I remember your post! I'm just reporting what rutgers told me -- she definitely said December but I like your claim a lot more ;) hahahaha! I hope that ends up happening!!!!!
