RPN where to apply

Published

Hello Fellow students,

I am currently in Pre-health looking to start the RPN program and then once done take the bridging program. I am confused as where to apply however.

I applied for Mohawk for Sept and January intakes - My first choice

now I cannot decide if I should apply for GBC, Cenntenial, Georgian or Sheridan or Humber.

My issues are this:

I live in Brampton but heard bad thin gs about Sheridan for nursing. I also was not impressed during the open house.

Centennial is far for me..like over an hours drive with traffic

Georgian - I an go to Orangeville campus no problem but I am not sure why they have a 5 term program so I would have to wait a whole year before applying to the bridging program and a friend said she got in there but it was cancelled because there was not enough students to start the program.

GBC is downtown so I am worried about the commute - Anyone do this comment currently?

Humber only takes September intake but I won't know if I am in to Mohawk for the fall before tuition has to be paid so I guess humber is out too,.

I also applied for Conestoga in January as that is where I am in Pre-health but I do not like the way they set up the courses, its 1-2-1 schedule so we are done Dec 2021. I get into Mohawk I am done Dec 2020 or April 2021. The latest I want to compete the program is April 2021 so I can do apply to BscN for Sept 2021

I am so confused and don't know where to apply. I am waiting fore second round HOAE testing to find out if I can get into Mohawk.

Mohawk students - what do you think of the program

Humber I felt is too young a student body for someone like me that is way older

Young as in? I'm not old old I don't think lol, I'm 25. This is a second career for me and I'm starting from absolute scratch. I've been out of high school for 9 years and even then never took math or science. I'm going to go wherever takes me at the end of the day lol i'd rather go in September then January I just want to be a nurse already! Plus, I want to bridge to RN when I'm done.

I’m with @Prehealth2Rpn2Bscn. I’m 26, turning 27. This is my second career as well. The average age for Humber in the rpn program is 26. I don’t consider that extremely young.

  1. Oh you will fit in at humber for sure. I on the other hand do not at 41 yrs old. Back ups are always good. I am trying to figure my back ups too. This is my second career too and I too, am starting from scratch with the end goal of RN. Wouldn't it be really neat if we do this together ? even if at different school for rpn.. ;)

Girl! Some of the most amazing people I've met at my prehealth science program are older women! I honestly steer clear of the young ones because their not as mature or serious as I am. Haha, yeah totally! I literally get so excited when I think about this new journey I've never been so excited about anything ever! Thank God I found this blog - my friends were beginning to get tired of me LOL.

I feel you!! I never thought in a million years I would want to be a nurse but now its all I think about! My husband told me to find a "nursing" friend cause Im getting on his nerves with all this "where should I apply" business,. The young ones fresh from high school (no disrespect to anyone of that age) from what I find are annoying and some very high on themselves.

Did you have to write the HOAE? how was that? I am writing it on the 30th

Hahaha your husband sounds lovely! Yes, I totally agree don't get me wrong some are lovely... I just haven't met them lol. I haven't wrote the HOAE the only school I need to write it for is Sheridan which hasn't even invited me to write it yet because I don't have my grades yet. However I do have the HOAE book to study for my test at Humber which is on May 7th I believe. Do you have the book? I was given the link by a lovely future nurse on here actually.

is that the pub book withs a nurse in a blue scubas on the front? I have it reserved at the library as soon as someone returns it :(

I applied at Sheridan just so I can get my HOAE test done to be considered for Mohawk as I missed there testing dates. They don't invite you. You log into the student centre and it will show you what you need to do for them to look at your application. Mine says I need my first term grades and the HOAE test. Click the event registration tab and book the date you want. Right now it says April 10th, but tomorrow there should be a ton more says open. I watch it cause I have to book the 30th cause the lady wouldn't book it for me on the phone.

Yes it is! Do you want the link that way you can access it online and not have to wait lol? Oh wow they'll accept your HOAE test results from Sheridan and apply them to Mowhawk that's cool I didn't know that! Oh wow I didn't know that thank you! I just thought because I didn't have grades yet that's why I wasn't communicated that information.

I will message you!

Sorry I know this is an old thread I just wanted to ask. If I went to GBC for the psw bridging program and complete the bridge would I be able to switch to the Gorgian college campus and continue in their rpn program? I live in barrie like 2 Minutes from GC but they don't have a psw bridging program and I don't feel like spending 4k on pre heath to maybe not even get accepted so do any of you know if that would work? Complete the bridge program and then switch to GC for the rpn ..? I really don't want to commute to Toronto but I don't see many other options. I wish GC had a psw bridging program.

This is a question you will have to ask the admission office at Georgian College. How long is the bridging program?
