Stop by, introduce yourself, say a little about yourself. :)
Hello to everyone. I have been an LPN since July of 07. I started the LPN-RN bridge program this summer. I am married with 2 beautiful children that are my life! I only work weekends cause my schedule is completely booked. At this point of my life, I am so overwhelmed with school, work, and head of the family, its very overwhelming, but im managing. I LOVE Nursing and will continue my studies until I hopefully reach my BSN>
I am an LPN who graduated in 2000. Due to graduate with BSN in May 09. I have three kids my oldest (daughter) 14 who started high school this year, a son who is 9 in 4th grade and the youngest son who is 5 and started kindergarten this year. Oh by the way I am 44 years old and retired military. In my senior year and things are starting to get hard. I am very organized, I have to be, this makes things easier. Oh I didnt mention my oldest child (husband) smile. He has been so supportive and has enhanced his cooking skills over the last two years. I look forward to graduation and not having to buy another book or write another 4 page care plan.
Hi, my name is Theresa. I passed my NCLEX-PN in July. I am continuing my education and if I pass, I will take the NCLEX-RN next summer. I am married with two daughters. I feel so overwhelmed on some days, it is unbelievable. I give credit to mothers pursuing their nursing dream with small children. Mine are teens so it is easier (maybe not...the worrying is pretty hard). I want to work as an LPN so that I can feel confident as a nurse but I don't know how I can find the time. I study constantly or so it seems. My clinical days are full-time days at the hospital and the rest of the week is in the classroom with theory and tests. With that said, I need to study for a GI test tomorrow. Good luck to all and if anyone wants to advise me on working as an LPN while in school, I would love to hear about it.
Hi there - I'm an LPN in Akron, attending a new RN program...finally, a program with no waiting list! This program is designed for anyone starting from scratch, but the length of the program is 18 months, and very accelerated, very hard.
For those wanting to just plow ahead in a shorter time to an Associate's RN, it's worth it.
Good luck to all in their nursing endeavors.
hello! awesome idea marie, by the way, to start a forum for us LPN to RN students!!!i am a 28 year old LPN, been one for 9 years, and am nearing the end of my studies of Excelsiors ADN program. I started last December, and have a couple more general eds to complete before starting to tackle the clinical component. Hoping to be completely finished next fall and take the NCLEX.
I am seriously considering going right into a BSN program as well, don't want to put off going finishing school for another 9 years. Still unsure of what exactly I want to do once I am an RN. So many things interest me!
I live in Michigan, work with geriatric rehab patients and love my job (most days). I have really enjoyed expanding my knowledge this past year while going through the nursing component! I love to learn....
I am also a single mom to my two munchkins....a 3 year old and a soon to be 5 year old (this month!!!) And also waiting to complete school so I can have some surgery done on my back.
I think that's enough blabbing....sorry!:imbar
Hi!
I know this is an old post but I wanted to know if you finished your studies with Excelsior? I'm very interested in Excelsior and was wondering how you made out? Thanks.
Hi all. I'm Maggi, 45 yrs young (lol) I'm a mother of 6, stepmom to 1, and grandma to 5. I just got my LPN license, but am plowing on ahead to RN. I am not sure yet if I want to try to find a job or just wait til I graduate. I'm thinking the latter so that I can focus on learning, but part of me wants some hands-on experience.
Anywho, I enjoy this site, and think this thread is awesome

Hi Maggi,
We could be twins! I'm 47, finished LPN now in RN program. I am not leaving my property management job until I feel confident enough as a nurse. I just started a PRN job at an LTC facility to get my feet wet. Also one of my classmates is thinking of doing the same. She's afraid to leave her stable (and familiar) bank job to be a full-time nurse but wants the exposure. Also when you have your license you get the "itch" to get started. Hope this helps. Take care.
