Go ahead and introduce yourself to our little online community!

I suppose I'll start. I completed an LVN program in the Los Angeles area in October 2005, passed NCLEX-PN in January 2006, and have been working in LTC in Texas throughout the past 2 years. Since August 2006, I've accrued 38 credit hours worth of prerequisite classes toward a local LVN-to-RN bridge program.

Specializes in LTC, cardiac, ortho rehab.

my name is jon, i graduated in april of 2006 and started working in july of 2006. i work in a LTC, mostly in cardiac and ortho rehab. im in my last semester of prereqs for the lvn-rn bridge program but i will most likely go through the whole RN program starting from nursing 1. i figured going over most of the same material twice will only make me a better nurse and ill be one step closer to becoming a super nurse and CRNFA. soooo.... i guess thats it.

also, i like grey's anatomy.

Specializes in LTC, Hopsital, MD Office, Home care.

hello, i'm tammy... from indiana for now. i've been a nurse for almost 12 years, yikes! i graduated from a community college in '97 and have done a class here and there to keep my gen. eds. active. have many plans on going back for my rn when my children begin to lead life on their own. most of my lpn experience has been in ltc with all types, alzheimer's, etc. i've done a lot of md office, short term surgery, med/surg, and even school nurse for a while. i currently have 5 clinicals to finish my degree and i'd love to travel nurse while the kids are in college :D

Hello Everyone. I've been an LPN since 2000. I work at an ICF with 26 mentally and physically disabled adults. I've been there 7 years. Mom of a toddler and hopefully more to come. Even if i don't always love my job, it was the best thing I ever did.

hello everybody,

i have been a lpn for 3 years now. i have only work in geriatrics and rehab, but i love my job. some days are definitely better than others as with any job. i plan on going back to school to get my rn. i have 2 more classes to take before i can transition into the rn program. i have one beautiful daugther, and she will soon be 2yrs old. she keeps me going and striving to complete my goal of becoming a rn. i'm new to the site so you will be seeing me around. i've read a lot of interesting and informative information already, and i look forward to reading a lot more!

Hey. I graduated March 21, 2008 and I am taking my boards in 3 weeks. I have a job lined up at a rehab nursing facility but I would love to work in a hospital. I plan on going back to school for my ASN and work L&D.

So happy to finally be a part of the nursing community!

Hi! My name is Tonya, I'm almost 36, and I graduated 7-27-07 and was licensed 11-27-07. I am married with 4 kids and work in LTC. I am going back to school this summer to work on pre-req's for the RN program. I aspire to eventually complete the BSN program, and then I'll see about the MSN program.

Hello! I'm Stephanie! I graduated from my LPN program in December 2007. I just got a new job in the hospital I currently work for as a pharm tech. I will be on a med-surg unit and I'm so excited yet very nervous!! I have been accepted back to the LPN-ASN transition class and will begin in August and done next May. The end is in sight!!!!

Specializes in LTC, Subacute Rehab.

Sarah, from California. I graduate 5-24-08, and am about to start my preceptorship. I have a job worked out at the same LTC where I work as a CNA.

Specializes in Hospice, ER.

I'm Deb and I graduated from the Ocean County (NJ) Vo-Tech in October 06. I've been licensed since 11/4/06. I just renewed my license which blew my mind. A whole year and a half gone already!

My first job was on a Cardiac/Trauma/Med-Surg stepdown unit in a trauma hospital. It was the first job I was offered as a nurse, and as I already worked there in charity care, I took it. Needed to keep my benefits! Learned a lot but was treated as an Aide. Next, left there and went to the ER of a hospital closer to home. I had found out I was accepted to RN school, the job promised to accommodate my schedule. Wrong! They didn't. So I looked on the job's system website, found a part-time LPN ER job even closer to home, called the director, said "you don't know me but..." and got that job, as a transfer. So, right now I'm an LPN in the ER chest pain/stroke unit of the second busiest ER in the USA (per CNN). It's crazy but I love it.

I would honestly stay an LPN where I am if I could get paid a good salary. But I need the salary an RN makes to support my kids. I am addicted to the ER and can't leave. Its in by blood. The RN's I work with utilize me to the full extent of my license. I will be a better RN for being an LPN. I have an excellent chance of staying here after I get my RN.

I'm proud:redbeatheto be an LPN and proud of the excellent care I give my patients.

I went to LPN school in 1972 joined the army and then reclasified in 1984 but I promised myself when my youngest graduated from college I would go back and get my RN I am in my first semester of nursing classes. The old professors and I get along great but I have a new profesor that couldn't find the linnen closet in the dark that hates me. She had this new 3 ft long equation to figure meds and I said D over H X q it's not fancy but it works. She told me the old way won't work any more. I know a lot has changed but surley the prescribed amount over the have amount times the quantity still works. Then on to IV where I said dose over minutes times tubing she said I was stupid that would not work. I can't figure out this thing where we are canceling ML's and grains and moving numbers but I just have to believe that the old way still works. Any advice will be apreciated

Hi, I'm Debbie, I have been an LPN for almost 40 years, I have worked most of those years in a LTC facility ( the same one) . I went to a tech school while I was in High school, then got married.Never went back to school for my RN, looking back now I regret it, but I do love my LPN life! I presently work on a rehab unit, have done so for the past 10 years. I have 2 grown daughters and 5 almost 6 grandchildren

I think your instructor might just be a little overzealous!! I just graduated from my LPN program in December of 07 and we used the D/H xQ and I also learned dose/min x tubing! Sometimes the old ways are the best ways! ;)
