Has anyone applied to SUNY RCC for nursing Fall 2022? I submitted all my forms for enrollment/nursing (I'll be transferring to this school) and even went to a Nursing Info Session at the school to find out more about the program. Seems to be a very competitive program to get into. I'm hoping my TEAS score is enough to get in since that is the only criteria.

HI! I took the TEAS twice. First time was at home remote and I got a 75. my power went out and had all of these tech problems so I scheduled for in-person exam on campus about 2 weeks later and got a 83. the questions were different but not having all of the timing pressure of the tech difficulties was a relief. I bought the ATI test prep online version. I just kept reading and taking the practice exams. It scores you and then I would just focus on the areas that were not my strong points. I also looked up Youtube videos like craftmath for the math prep and Carolyn Mcallister for the English.
Good Luck!

It's okay!! Same here with the nervousness haha, I hope to see you this Fall semester though! I set all my classes up so that I have classes from Tuesday-Friday so we'll see how that works out. I took the NUR 103 calculations competency exam but didn't pass so I'm going to be taking NUR 103 in the Fall. I'm taking the NUR 103 course online. No problem, I realize that not everyone got to talk to the nursing student that graduated so I thought I'd share.
I thought we were supposed to be updated the same week of Nursing NSO about the textbooks that they think we should purchase/start reading. I emailed the nursing department today to see if they have any updates on the textbooks. I just hope that they answer within this week because I want to see how the topic distribution will look in those textbooks.

Thank you! I got a 79.3% on the TEAS. This was my second attempt at the exam. The first time I took the TEAS I got a 75.3% but that was about three years ago. I honestly did not think that the score I got was good enough to get in, but I sure am glad I made it! My weakest area was reading and English language usage. I think with the time constraints and me being unfamiliar with taking the exam online, I wasn't in the right headspace. I took multiple practice tests. I used the mometrix book as well as free resources I found online through the ATI TEAS facebook group. I found it helpful to use the mometrix book because there was feedback on the rationales for the correct answers and why other answers were considered wrong. I also used resources like Carolyn McAllister (English/reading), science with Susanna, and Brandon Craft (math).
I think that your best method would be to take a practice test to see where you stand with certain topics and then work from there. I would say practice time management, because that was something that I struggled with a lot during the exam. I only had about two weeks to study with working two jobs. It was very stressful but manageable.

Yes I am mon-Thursday and will be taking the calculations class online as well. Im glad you mentioned that you reached out about the text book b/c it was on my to-do list for today! I really need to know so I can order and start reading a bit ahead. I felt like there were a few things from NSO that they were supposed to follow-up with in an email LOL I need to go through that list now and see if I need to reach out about anything.

Oh also did you submit all your required paperwork for clinical(s)? I submitted all of them: health forms, AHA CPR certification, criminal history background check, urine drug screening, covid vaccinations. I never received a confirmation that everything has been received but I'm guessing everything should be okay if they haven't emailed me about my documents.

When did you hear about that?

When I took this class I purchased the book and used it maybe 3 or 4 times. It helped but the professor sends practice questions and answers…also PowerPoints. There is no homework or meeting times for online. Just 2 exams and a final I believe. You must score a grade 80 if I’m not mistaking to pass. Every semester moving forward you will have a calculations test and the passing score goes up 5 points every semester. For testing purchase a basic calculator. They are like $2. It cannot have more than 20-22 buttons. No graphing calculator or fancy stuff allowed. Be careful with the conversion values in the book because they are different from RCC. Your Proffesor will send you their conversion values.
