Has anyone applied to SUNY RCC for nursing Fall 2022? I submitted all my forms for enrollment/nursing (I'll be transferring to this school) and even went to a Nursing Info Session at the school to find out more about the program. Seems to be a very competitive program to get into. I'm hoping my TEAS score is enough to get in since that is the only criteria.

Congrats!! I was accepted today as well ? I will be days parttime. See you at the orientation!

Congrats! I was as well ? no longer on any social but I'm happy to share my email so we can all keep in touch. See you all at the orientation in June.

Thank you! Yay congrats! Sure thing, I'll pm you my email. ? See you all at the orientation!

I’ll leave a word of advice here because I wish someone would have done it for me. For those starting LPN to RN you will be fine on your first semester after that its a different story. It gets really hard. Those who are not LPN start reading NOW! Find out what nursing process class you will be taking in fall and what it will be about. You can find this in the RCC course info. Start studying and creating a study group if possible with your classmates. Is a lot of information you have to get through so divide and conquer is good. If you make it to your second semester do the same and start studying in your break it only gets worst. They moved the final semester class of med surg III to be started second semester instead. exams worth 50% of your grade and final 50%. Anything less than 75% you fail…they do not round up. Exams are NCLEX type questions alot of select all that apply. Pharmacology calculation course usually first semester unless you want to test out of it and skip the class but it is part of your curriculum you also need to take a calculation exam every semester and each semester the passing score goes up by 5 points. So passing score will be in this order per semester (80,85,90,95) you get two chances. You also have skills to do every semester. If you can find a way to do it during Summer and Winter break DO IT! Is a small fee but worth it If you want to spend your time studying for your exams which is the only thing that counts. There’s alot but it is doable. If I had known these things my stress level would not have been so bad. If you guys have any questions I would gladly help…. Also for your textbook try to get it in print (u will still need the internet access)..its just better to study honestly. You can get it used in chegg website for cheap. Try to get ahead as much as you can.

Thank you! I actually plan on trying to read ahead this Summer. First Summer and probably last that I'm unemployed. Wanted to take advantage on days kids are in camp. Wasn't sure where to start so thanks for the advice!

Thank you so much for helping us out ❤️ I actually was struggling to find any information regarding the intensity of the program/how to prepare for this Fall so your advice really helps.

How many exams on average per class did they give? And did you feel that their questions reflected the difficulty of the NCLEX? I see that RCC has an extremely high passing rate for first time NCLEX test takers so I was also curious to know how high the retention rate for your cohort was? Did you follow a 4 consecutive semester sequence for your RN?

And I really would like to PM you some questions since I have so many to ask lolol (I hope that's okay), but I don't have access to PM yet so I'll ask the most important ones here.

Hi everyone, I'm considering making a separate forum to help out currently accepted nursing students at RCC. For anyone attending New Student Orientation, maybe we can also try to get each other's contact information there too if some of us can't PM yet. Let's all meet at the New Student Orientation site at 9:30am to chat and get each other's info?

So I am taking 144 and 252 right now. 144 is GI and mental health that is 2 exams and a comprehensive final that will determine your fate. No matter how great you did on clinical and those assignments. They do nit count but they take up most of your time. In 252 is Musculoskeletal, Neuro and renal that is 3 exams and a final. Imagine learning everything you possibly can about all

these topics in 4 months including a clinical for each class a week and skill testing … the stress is unreal. It has been done but with that comes sacrifice. The questions are difficult and in NCLEX form. Remember they teach you the concept then you have to use critical thinking and nursing process to put it together. All the answered are right but which one is the most right. ABC (airway, breathing, circulation) and (adpie) is your best friend. In that order! Both of my classes contain almost half of failing students from the previous semesters that are on their last chance. The reason their pass rate is so good is because they weed out the weak early. If you have an awesome GPA…say goodbye now. It's hard to get grades like that again. I went from a 3.9 all A’s to praying I get a 75 in nursing. All my prerequisites were done and Im glad it was…I can’t imagine taking other classes with nursing. I am a double major student so I am also in the STEM program but I had most of the classes needed I only take a extra math class but is not difficult at all. Would not recome unless you need it for financial aide like me. I wish they scored select all that apply questions like the NCLEX we will be taking in the future because they will count partial credit. Here is u get one wrong the whole question is wrong.

Good Info! so basically we find out which nursing process course we will have after registration on the orientation day. We will then know what subjects to get a head start on. Do you feel like they teach you to prepare you for the "select all that apply" questions or is that something you really have to figure out on your own?
