Hi all,
I'm considering relocating to the Durham, NC area and was wondering if anyone familiar with that area would be willing to share what a normal hourly rate is for the area. I have 7 years of experience, mostly in critical care.
Thanks so much!

I know that Duke has raised their pay again starting Oct 1. My 2 cents has to with education benefits at Duke. I do not know about the UNC system, but I am getting pretty decent help with tuition as a Duke employee. I also will have great opportunities within the system for a job when I finish my MSN.
I just relocated to Charlotte and am struggling with the pay being offered here. 22.57 an hour with 5 years experience. How can this be. This is $17 less an hour than california. I think I could make more money as a bartender. They dont even pay more for a bachelor's vs an associates. Stating we don't pay more for education. I'm sorry....what?
Hi mmc5124! This is good to know. I live and work in downtown Chicago as an L&D RN but more more am growing tired of the city life and considering the move back to my hometown of Chapel Thrill. The big thing that stops me is the low hourly rate compared to Chicago. {I've been gone for 10+ years and can't remember a time when things were cheap} Can anyone comment here as to any pay difference between ADN, BSN and MSN nurses in the Triangle area? What about other benefits like PTO accrual for specific hospitals like UNC,WakeMed, or Duke?

As a relocating new grad (20+ years as a medic and graduated in Aug with MSN) I am getting many interview requests at the outlying hospitals as opposed to the larger hospitals. All of the outlying hospitals are affiliated with the larger ones as well. I have a full week of interviews scheduled for the first week of January (they were actually trying to schedule them for xmas week).
